Deep Thoughts With Kevin

February 16th, 2009 by Kevin

Attended Saturday\’s performance of Tony & Tina\’s Wedding, and although I really had no idea what to expect, I gotta say it was a blast.  If there was one thing I had to find one fault, it was probably that at times there were too many things going on.  Our table was situated such that I had the band/stage in front of me, the dance floor to the right of me, the head table to the left of me, and a major walkway behind me.  At times there was a story line playing out on all of them at once.  Basically my head was on a swivel.  But the entire night was amusing.  I highly recommend.

\"\" Local police want the right to jam wireless signals.  Yeah, that\’s gonna turn out well.  Giving police more power than they already have is a mistake waiting to happen.

\"\" Ever hear the joke about the President that walked into the press corps office and got pissed off when they dared to ask him questions??  No, well he got elected last November

\"\" According to the CBO, our recession will end in 2009 regardless of whether a stimulus is used or not.  This is good and bad for the country at the same time.  The good is obvious.  The bad is that Democrats will use it as \”proof\” that their stimulus worked even as they cram the unnecessary cost for it down the taxpayer\’s throats.

\"\" Old&Busted : Abortion is okay because a woman should have control over her own body.  New&Sexy : A woman shouldn\’t have control over her body if she\’s planning on having lots of kids.  Gotta love the \”consistency\” of liberals.

\"\" An early concept snowmobile from 1924….an awesome design and I\’m a little curious why this design didn\’t pan out.

\"\" A man walks NEAR a woman on the sidewalk….entire university freaks the fuck out.

\"\" Former CEO of Chicago Public Schools doesn\’t do a single thing as it becomes clear that teachers and administrators in area schools are severely beating kids, and fracturing bones in some cases.  Hundreds of cases are verified, only a couple dozen result in any action.  So what happened to the former CEO??  Well, he\’s our Secretary of Education now…..what was that about the high standards of the Obama Administration again?

\"\" Researchers try to create news by going to small town, USA looking for prejudice.  End up demonstrating their own close-minded ignorant prejudice.

\"\" 67% think they could do better than Congress….I\’m 100% sure they\’re right

\"\" Politico asked all 99 Senators if they\’ve ever had mistakes on their taxes or been found to be in error.  Only 58 responded.  The rest refused because it was too personal.  Guess what….you\’re a public figure, on the public payroll spending public money, and you\’re more than likely a public nuisance.

\"\" Well there is one industry that is apparently recession proof…..ammunition.  Ammunition supplies are dwindling and suppliers are having to restrict shipments as they can\’t meet demand.

\"\" Voter ID bill dies in committee in the MN House….probably not the last of it we\’ve seen.

\"\" Stimulus bill is likely to become law soon….which historically means the recession is probably over.

\"\" Democrat backstabbing….it makes Democratic majorities tolerable.

\"\" Sweet, we\’re spending $30 million in the stimulus to save a mouse in Pelosi\’s district.

\"\" Due to violent gangs in Mexico, Phoenix is now #2 in the world in kidnappings, just behind Mexico City.  That\’s even worse than Baghdad for those of you keeping track.  Still think a wall on the southern border is a bad thing??

\"\" \”We\’ve lost two people in my family because you dickheads won\’t cut trees down…\”…political correctness in action!

\"\" Congress in the process of simply ignoring the Constitution and the 23rd amendment….all to give Democrats yet another vote in Congress.

\"\" Confirmed : White House can\’t do simple math to save their life your job.

Your snowmobile is just an early version of a US Army COE swamp buggy. Or a Russian tundra jeep.

I love the real bullets for bullets, awesome. Hey here’s another bullet-worthy fact: New York State wants to tax our, er your internet porn! Outrageous.

I’m still trying to figure out how they know that the recession will end in 2009. What’s there proof?

  4. J. Ewing Says:

Their “proof” is that historically, recessions last about 16 months, and this one started mid-2008. This estimate has now been revised because the “stimulus” changes the outlook. No, not to make the recession shorter, but to make it extend well into 2010! Wow. Let’s hope government doesn’t “help” us any more!

PFF : Generally you can look at various economic indicators and get a general idea.

Certain things have to happen before other things any any economic trend. You watch and generally study the health of those early signs.
