Hunter Endorsed Who?!??!!

January 23rd, 2008 by Kevin

Huckabee?!??!

WTF?!??

I mean not that it\’ll really matter much, other than make us question just what Hunter is/was thinking??

Hunter : Fair Trade
Huckabee : Free Trade

Hunter : Opposes pathway to citizenship
Huckabee : Supports legalization of illegals

Hunter : Pro-Gitmo
Huckabee : Anti-Gitmo

Hunter : Small government
Huckabee : Big government

What\’s going on here??  Oddly enough a McCain endorsement would have made more sense, at least you know he\’s applying for the VP slot or at least a cabinet position.  This makes absolutely no sense, other than that Hunter appears to have squandered all credibility and political capital by endorsing the guy that has the least chance of winning anything (excluding Ron Paul).

  1. J. Ewing Says:

Not sure I see the difference in the first. Free trade is fair trade.

I think you have the second one wrong. Hunter is stronger on immigration, but Huckabee, from what I know, is to the right of McCain, at least.

The third one, if you have it right, is a deal-breaker to me. Anybody wanting to close Gitmo without saying where they will dump the toxic sludge now kept there, is out of their ever-lovin’.

With allowance for brevity, you have the last one right, and that is a cause of wonderment and consternation. I don’t think it is as clear as you paint it, but it is clear enough to choose Hunter over Huckabee (or anybody over Huckabee) if the choice were offered.

There actually is a difference between “free trade” and “fair trade”. Personally I support free trade, but fair trade markets better with the public, and it was probably the only thing I disagreed with Hunter on.

Second one is correct, and it denotes Hunter’s stronger position.

This came from one of the questions is the earlier debates (Pre-Thompson).

Yeah, I know Huckabee will claim he’s not for big government and there is some details worked out. But when it comes down to it, if you look at his record, he’s a tax&spender.
