Plug The Damn Hole!

May 26th, 2010 by Kevin

Reportedly President Obama was recently heard to utter \”Plug the damn hole!\”. I heard the comment out of context so I was momentarily confused regarding which hole he was referring to. Several possible options immediately came to mind…

Was it Biden\’s mouth?? From which so much comedy gold easily flows…much to the embarrassment, if they\’re smart enough to be, of the Obama Administration.

Was it the holes in the border? The holes through which millions of illegal aliens, including violent criminals, constantly flows. So much so that Arizona finally gave up on the federal government doing it\’s job and adopted Federal (and California) law, as it\’s own.

Was it the holes in public opinion? Obviously there must be one somewhere because Obama\’s approval ratings have been sinking across all demographics.

Was it Nashville, TN? The city which was under several feet of water for a days and days without warning….not that you\’d know it from the federal governments non-response.

What it TARP and the bailouts?? Through which we\’ve pissed away billions of dollars to no apparent benefit, except to nationalize the auto and student loan industries?

Was it Obamacare? Through which we\’re about to piss away billions of dollars more, to no apparent benefit, and quite possibly catastropic results???

Was it the upcoming The American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010?? A bill which pisses away even more billions by increasing spending by $174 billion, through $40 billion in tax increases and $134 billion in deficit spending…again to no apparent benefit.

Was it the SEIU?? Through which, while most Americans 401K plans are sinking, we\’re about to bailout underfunded and over generous union pension plans to the tune of $165 billion….because union bosses mismanaged the funds during good times, such as spending $85 million on getting Obama elected.

Is it the spot where the federal budget should be?? Because while they have an 18-seat majority in the Senate, more than a 70-seat majority in the House, and they control the White House, they still can\’t manage to even propose a budget….which leaves two possibilities, incompetence or apathy.

What hole was it that Obama angerly interrupted an aide and demanded that they \”plug the damn hole!\”

Turns out it was just that oil leak in the Gulf…the one the Federal government dithered about upon for over a week and still haven\’t gotten their act in gear. Turns out they are considering taking over from BP to address the issue….even though, by their own admission, they couldn\’t do any better job than BP has done.

At least BP is trying, which is more than can be said for the Federal government, as the state of Louisana can tell you.

At least BP is accountable to stockholders, who is the federal government accountable to….the voters?? The Obama administration has long since shown they don\’t give a damn what the voters think, as adequately evidenced by Obamacare, the AZ immigration bill, terrorist trials, bailouts and their rampant deficit spending.

No Obama, the only hole I wish was filled is the gaping chasm which appears to exist between your ears.

Kerry : You Can\’t Be Trusted With Your Own Tax Money

February 11th, 2009 by Kevin

How dare YOU decide how to spend the money YOU earned??

Once again a Democrats says what they are probably all thinking.  They can spend your money better than you can!  They are the all knowing government, and the government never screws anything up….

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Looking Into My Crystal Ball

February 1st, 2008 by Kevin

I\’ve point out before, that one of the few things that Europe is good for is to provide a good indicator of what the long-term consequences of liberal policies are.

In our next great adventure into liberal alternative reality land, we start with the smoking ban. Roll on one.

Smoking ban doesn\’t actually make people stop smoking. They instead just go outside to smoke. When it gets cold out, despite all non-existant evidence of global warming, it just makes them not want to go to the bar/restaurant/etc, thereby threatening the business of businesses everywhere.

Businesses, being private industry have to adapt….instead of just imposing their will on people like liberals do. They come upon the rather ingenius solution to the above problem. Install patio heaters en masse to make it comfortable for people to go out and smoke….even in the winter!!! Genius!!

Being thwarted, liberals are not happy, obviously they must further impose their will upon the sheeple. Enter more global warming nonsense. Roll on two.

The patio heaters warming drinkers and diners on the pavements of northern Europe are also warming the planet\’s climate and should be banned, according to a European Parliament report that could be adopted on Thursday.

Environmentalists argue that heaters not only pump heat directly into the atmosphere but also climate-damaging CO2, while owners of pubs and bars say they need them to help retain customers driven outside by smoking bans.

So in the minds of environmentalists, your 40,000 BTU patio heater makes even a blip of a difference compared to say, oh….the damn sun!

Now a clever mind mind, which excludes environmentalists, might notice that there were two complaints about the heaters. The heat and the CO2. Ah, well…

According to UK government statistics, outdoor heaters produce about 22,200 tons of CO2 a year, compared with around 21 million tons from household heating and hot water.

Wow….real huge impact there folks.

\”We urge the Commission to set a timetable for completely taking off the market some appliances that are intrinsically inefficient, such as patio heaters,\” she added.

It sort of scares me how quickly liberals can go from not liking something to saying it should be banned. When you have attitudes like that democracy is dead. But I\’ll hang in there, ok….anything that is inefficient will be banned.

So I\’m happy that you\’ll join me in banning Medicare, Social Security, Welfare, France, etc.

Thanks for playing.

The Future Of HillaryCare

January 28th, 2008 by Kevin

If there is one thing Europe is good for, is to provide a example of what the long term consequences of liberalism is.  For example, Paris is perpetually in flames and riots are an every day occurence because of years of rampant political correct multiculturism.

And now the UK provides us the long term result of universal health care.  It gets really expensive really quick.  And by really expensive, I mean unsustainably so.  To which apparently the answer is not providing health care to…..well, the people that need healthcare, the sick and elderly.

Doctors are calling for NHS treatment to be withheld from patients who are too old or who lead unhealthy lives.

Smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese and the elderly should be barred from receiving some operations, according to doctors, with most saying the health service cannot afford to provide free care to everyone.

I often hear the phrase, \”If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it\’s free\”.  Apparently it holds more truth than even I thought.

If it weren\’t so tragic, this situation would be rather amusing.  After all, the big criticism of private health care is that the sick and elderly can\’t afford it.  Well under universal health care, the state denies it to them.  So how does that change things??  And everyone else that is still covered has to wait months for a simple appointment.  Another perfect example that socialism doesn\’t provide collective prosperity but rather collective misery.
