Tough Questions For Biden…And The Disaster That Follows

October 27th, 2008 by Kevin

Someone finally asked Biden/Obama some tough questions.  End result, the Obama campaign cuts off this particular news station.  How dare you question the Messiah!

Almost Nobody Does Crazy Like Sheehan

October 22nd, 2008 by Kevin

Few weeks ago I pointed out that Cynthia McKinney is batshit crazy.  As it turns out Cindy Sheehan is almost as crazy.  She\’s apparently believe her campaign against Pelosi is being sabotaged.

Amongst her claims:

  • During the DNC, hotel staff claimed they were changing a light bulb but it was really AT&T bugging her phone.  Evidence for this has not been forthcoming.
  • Organizers of a LA musical festival wouldn\’t let her speak, even claiming that the mayor intervened to silence her speech.  Seems like she\’s mostly pissed that this wasted a day of campaigning…although a wise person would point out that a person running for office in San Fransisco is wasting a day no matter what they are doing in LA.
  • Can\’t understand why one of our volunteers turned out to be batshit crazy….so it must be that they are a spy for Pelosi.
  • The taillights on her RV were busted out.  This is an obvious conspiracy against her….which should be a shock to thousands of people across the country who have had their vehicle bumped by another in a parking lot.  It\’s especially shocking to other campaigns across the country whose vehicles have received far worse.
  • Despite her admission that her campaign office is in a \”rough part of town\”, the fact that four people came into her campaign office and tried to steal a computer, is absolutely positive evidence of a conspiracy.
  • She\’s been summoned for Jury Duty….which apparently has never happened to anyone before her.
  • All those robo calls she scheduled that accidentally took place at like 10:30 pm due to a computer error were really evidence of a mass conspiracy.  Because any robo calling business is looking for a reason to piss off their customers and develop a bad reputation just for the fun of it.

With Cynthia McKinney on the east coast and Cindy Sheehan on the west coast, \”flyover country\” has never looked so good.

Not A Game Changer

October 16th, 2008 by Kevin

McCain (aka Senator Blinky) had to win a stunning victory tonite, quite simply that didn\’t happen.  Obama (aka Senator Government), on the other hand, merely had to not set his podium on fire or try to catch an imaginary rabbit.  He did that.  McCain might have won this battle but he\’s very clearly losing the war.

According to snap polls and focus groups it\’s not even clear they considered McCain the victor in this debate.  Personally I think McCain scored a victory here, but not an clear victory, much less an overwhelming victory.  He made a lot of good points and hit Obama a few times, but Obama very ably parried many of McCain\’s attack and McCain never seemed willing or able to close in for the kill even when Obama was vulnerable.  Simply put, McCain did not have the fire in the belly he needed, instead conservatives were left with heartburn.

If there was a clear victor it was Joe the Plumber.  His name was mentioned at least 15 times during the debate.  His story is definitely a sore spot for Obama, and it was the one time he was visibly rattled.  McCain tried to make him an issue and I think he might have, it remains to be seen how his story resonates with the voters.  I think several weeks ago he would have been a game changer, now I think it\’s too late.

Regardless, despite McCain\’s many attempts at scoring points invoking Joe\’s name, it\’s clearly that the Joe himself does a much better job on McCain\’s behalf than McCain does on Joe\’s.

Hell, I never really liked McCain anyway, I think I\’ll vote for Joe the Plumber.

Obama Wants To Reinstate The Draft

October 14th, 2008 by Kevin

He wants to draft every young person into military service including women!!!!*  EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!

* No you idiot, he doesn\’t really!!!  But since \”Republican candidate X is going to reinstate the draft\” is a yearly charge from deranged liberals (I repeat myself) based on absolutely no evidence and several statements to the contrary, I figured the factual standard was low enough I could still claim it.

After all, he does support females signing up for the Selective Service, which would be used if we ever instated the draft.  That\’s close enough to declaring he supports the draft right?? Right??

Liberals, you might consider how silly your actions look when applied to your own candidates.

Meanwhile, Back In The Town Of Hopenchange

October 14th, 2008 by Kevin

Socialism has taken root.

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Yeah, it\’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to steal your money and give it to people that didn\’t work for it.  Because that somehow makes things better.  If encourages them to sit on their ass more and be provided for, and it encourages you to sit on your ass more because you get punished otherwise.  With a recipe like that it\’s amazing the Soviet Union went under.

Post Debate Reaction

October 7th, 2008 by Kevin

Obama won….not because he necessarily did really well. However, if you take a look at the shape of the race right now a number of things needed to happen. Not only did McCain have to score a homerun, but Obama had to screw up…especially since it was a townhall type setting, which Obama generally doesn\’t do well in.

Neither of those happen. At best the status quo was maintained, which makes this a clear Obama victory.

McCain had a little fire in the belly but nothing close to what he needed. A number of times he started an answer very well and it looked like he was going to really score points and then promptly wandered off into the weeds. Obama, meanwhile, scored a win as long as he didn\’t set his podium on fire and then run around the stage naked while screaming \”The squirrels are after me!!\”.

So we can make this a solid Obama win.

E-Verify Saved….For Now

October 3rd, 2008 by Kevin

In the waning days of the this session, Congress passed the Continuing Resolution (H.R. 2638).  This was necessary to keep the government running because due to their incompetence they haven\’t done a damn thing in months, including passing any 2009 fiscal bills.  And extension of E-Verify until March 6th, 2009 was included in that Continuing Resolution.   So E-Verify and therefore attempts to counter illegal immigration will survive for a few more months at least.

The bigger problem is that the next battle for E-Verify could very likely take place in a Congress of unknown political makeup and under a President who will almost certainly be less than willing to extend the program.  Regardless of who wins this Presidential Election, we will have a President very hostile to border enforcement.

Actually an Obama presidency would be better for border enforcement than a McCain presidency.  With McCain as president, Republicans in Congress will feel it necessary to go along with McCain\’s very well established pro-amnesty tendencies.  And just like last times Democrats will go along with it because amnesty works in their favor.  With an Obama presidency, Republicans will fight for E-Verify and against any attempts at amnesty for no other reason than it\’s what Obama wants.  Either way it\’s a shitty environment to fight for the survival of one of the best tools we have against illegal immigration.

Our best bet for E-Verify is for the Senate to pass HR 6633, which has already passed the House.  To do that they have to deal with the hold that Senator Menendez.  Which means Harry Reid either tells Menendez to get bent and ignores the hold, or else he needs to grow a backbone and tell Menendez he\’s a damn moron and to remove his hold.

No matter how the hand is dealt, while we have E-Verify for a few months more, the horizon is looking rather dim.
