We have far too many conservatives who thought that, so long as they didn't vote for a Republican, they could prevent "some liberal" from winning the election. That's not a strategy that works. I'm reasonably convinced that the "misery index" made popular in the Carter years will be in miserable shape by the time election rolls around. Employment will still be bad, even if it's begun to recover, and interest rates will be sky-high and climbing.
