Minnesota Knows How To Throw A Tea Party

April 15th, 2009 by Kevin

Attended the St. Paul Tea Party at the state capitol today.  Anywhere from 5000 to 10000 people showed up.  From having attended past rallies, for both sides of the political spectrums I know that conservatives generally just don\’t show up for these type of things and so it speaks volumes that over 5000 conservatives showed up.  Especially when one considers that there were at least a dozen other options at the same time in Minnesota.

Now many conservatives were there.  And the impressions from the conservatives point of view will be analyzed to death.  I\’m a little curious from the liberals point of view….what their thoughts were.  So I put on my waders and got a tetanus shot and waded into the cesspool of liberalism….the Democratic Underground.

Single sentence response to so-called Tea Parties:

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man\’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.
—John Kenneth Galbraith

It\’s a fairly complex sentence, so that might confuse some of the Teabaggers, but then, they would have been confused by clear, rational, independent thought, regardless.

link

No I understood it pretty well.  Actually I\’m more curious at where you got your definition of selfishness.  I\’d regard wanting to keep money OTHER people earned is more selfish than wanting to keep the money I earned.

Let\’s call these \”Tea Parties\” for what they really are – white power rallies

These idiots are nothing more than a bunch of pissed off rethugs and cowardly \”libertarians\” who are pissed off that a black president is spending \”their\” money. It eats them alive that their beloved decorated war hero didn\’t win, that Rove couldn\’t steal a 3rd presidential election, so now they\’re taking to the streets in protest. These morons are bound by their hatred of two things – Obama and brown-skinned immigrants. Listen to any right-wing talk show, and you\’ll hear hateful vitriol spewed forth on a daily basis towards both of these targets.

link

Actually most of us were pissed off at Bush\’s spending far before Obama\’s election.  That\’s what the Porkbusters movement was all about.  That\’s why Bush had such low popularity even among conservatives.  That\’s why he faced revolt amongst conservatives about his drug plan.  Now we\’re beyond pissed off, when Obama is making Bush look like a penny-pincher.

And I challenge you to find me a mainstream right-wing radio show spewing hatred towards brown-skinned people.  And it\’s pretty intellectually vacant of you to automatically apply racist undertones towards honest disagreements with a President who happens to be black.  Project much??

BEST Case Scenario For The Teabaggers, Each Teabag Party Averaged 300 protesters

PJTV said over 700 Teabag Parties.

PJTV Says 208,058 people turned out nationwide.

That averages out to less than 298 people per Teabag Party if their estimates are correct.

And most likely, they\’re over-estimating turnout.

Just USing PJTV\’s Own Numbers.

BTW, that would be less than 0.07% of the population gave enough of a shit to come out and teabag.

link

Oddly enough your anti-war rallies gathered similar numbers and at the time people like you claimed it was overwhelming public opinion.  It\’s was a national movement that symbolizes a growing swell of discontent.  Except that your protesters were paid for and organized at a national level by groups like Code Pink.

The Tea Parties are grassroots.  Nobody paid for them and no one organization organized them.  Despite your claims of funding and organization by Fox News.  Fox News and the rest of the networks jumped on the bandwagon AFTER this had been going on for months.

Since conservatives like to quote our forefathers on their ideals on liberty and freedom, they should be reminded that the original \”tea party\” was about taxation without representation.

link

You are correct.  And that\’s why the populace hasn\’t revolted, in the real sense of the word, yet.

And we are expressing our displeasure to our elected representatives in a way that was specifically permitted by the very same people that took part in the original Tea Party.

As usual, liberals just don\’t get it.

I Demand My 28th Amendment Right To An AA Gun!

April 15th, 2009 by Kevin

Like me you\’ve probably heard Hillary Clinton, and some of our other Overlords, talk about how 90% of the weapons in Mexico are coming from the United States.  That may have been thoroughly debunked, but let us not deal in facts, but rather emotional propaganda instead.

I request, nah I DEMAND, to find out which gun shops in the United States offer inventories like this:

Officers recovered a vast cache of weapons including an anti-aircraft gun capable of firing 800 shots per minute, five rifles, a grenade and part of a grenade launcher.

The anti-aircraft gun, capable of penetrating armour from more than 5,000ft away and found attached to the top of a SUV, was the first of its type to be seized by Mexican police.

Cartels have increasingly got hold of higher-powered weapons including military-grade arms such as grenades and machine guns.

No seriously folk.  I mean why am I messing around looking at paltry semi-auto AR-variants when I could be getting automatic machine guns capable of shooting down aircraft?  I mean even setting aside the mind numbingly orgasmic fun they would be, just think of how much easier pheasant hunting would be. And assuming I could depress the angle of the weapon enough, I get a little tingle up my leg just thinking about how much fun prairie dog hunting would be!

I\’m getting a little tired of being blamed for being the source for this awesome weaponry but never having had even the remotest possibility of actually having possessed it.  Which now that I think about it, makes it a little hard to be the source doesn\’t it?  Bah! Like I said, let\’s not let things like facts stand in the way of a good emotion driven rant.

As a DHS-certified right wing extremist I demand the weaponry that reflects my title and apparent national security threat.  I mean we\’re finding new Constitutional \”rights\” all the time, surely I have a \”right\” to an anti-aircraft gun!  Start looking in the Amendments.  There\’s twenty-seven of the damn things, surely one of them grants me a \”right\” to a anti-aircraft gun….or at the very least some claymores.

So…About These Prerequisites For The 72 Virgins…

April 15th, 2009 by Kevin

Between my sometimes bizarre behavior, my affiliation with shady characters like the MN Militia, and my affinity toward firearms, it was something people have long suspected.  Now it\’s official.  According to the criteria set forth by the incompetent omniscient Department of Homeland Security, I\’m officially a terrorist.

I got the certificate and everything!

\"\"
So, in light of this new title I have a few questions.  I mean I not Muslim, so I\’m wondering if those 72 virgins are simply a denominational promotion or if it\’s more global.  Limiting it would be kinda discriminatory I would have to think.

Assuming I still qualify for this promotion I\’m curious about the pre-requisites.  Is martyrdom a concrete requirement or is it more the thought that counts type of thing?

Happy Tax Freedom Day Minnesota

April 15th, 2009 by Kevin

Today is Tax Freedom Day for Minnesotans.  The day at which you\’ve finally earned enough money to pay off your federal, state and local taxes.  You\’ve been working for the government so far, now you get to work for yourself.

….unless you take the deficit into account, then you\’re gonna have to wait until sometime after Memorial Day.

Let\’s Play \”Are You More Extreme Than A Fifth Grader?\”

April 14th, 2009 by Kevin

You can play along at home by answering these easy questions…

- Are you concerned about illegal immigration?
- Are you concerned with increasing federal power?
- Are you concerned with current/future restrictions on firearms?
- Are you concerned about abortion?
- Are you concerned about the loss of US sovereignty?

Basically what this boils down to is, are you conservative to any degree?

If you answered yes to any of the above, congratulations, according to the Department of Homeland Security you\’re officially a \”right-wing extremist\”!! Bob, tell them what they\’ve won!!

That\’s right John, our contestants win further intrusion upon their lives by the federal government. And you potentially get a lifetime supply Rice-A-Roni, the San Fransisco treat, lovingly prepared by fellow inmates in one of our delightful federal prisons.

Some tongue-firmly-in-cheek humor there, but it\’s based on a study by the Department of Homeland Security, the very same department that last we heard was letting us know they couldn\’t provide homeland security, yet has no need for a budget increase to take on the herculean task of quelling border violence.

Apparently if you\’re more conservative than Meghan McCain (probably 60% of the US), you quite possibly may be a \”right-wing extremist\” according to our wonderful DHS. If you\’re a veteran returning from war, you got two strikes against you, as you are quite clearly a Ted Kaczynski just waiting to happen! Supposedly the catalyst being the poor economic conditions and potential restrictive legislation being passed by the new Administration.

Now I\’m poking fun at the DHS a bit here. I understand they are attempting to do a job. And to be sure, each of the issues listed above is an issue that provokes enough passion, that in some it might lead to irrational acts. We\’ve heard of attacks on abortion clinics. Or the war vet that is having issues adjusting to life back home. Or the firearms enthusiast that decides to go Waco. But in every single instance, it has always been isolated incidents.

What I take issue with is that only right-wing extremists appear to be possible. The DHS isn\’t concerned with the rise of \”extremism\” due to bad economic conditions, they are concerned with \”right wing extremism\”, even though left wing extremism is just as common. We\’ve all heard of animal rights activists attacking scientists who use animals in experiments. We\’ve heard of environmentalists burning down buildings. We\’ve heard of gay rights activists threatening those they perceive as against their cause (i.e California in the last election). We\’ve heard of anarchists rioting and attacking police. And in the left wing examples I gave, you have liberal organizations openly endorsing those actions.

So then wouldn\’t it be more prudent for the DHS to be worried about extremism in general?? Certainly bad economic times leads to greater stress and tougher times for everyone. Wouldn\’t all be effected equally? I mean besides the Al Gore and George Soros of the world.

The right wing hardly has a monopoly on extremism, and for the most part, unlike the left, we\’ve closed our franchises. So the fact that the DHS would put out a study extolling the dangers of \”right wing extremism\” indicates more of a political agenda, than a real (or perceived) danger to public safety. And for a department that can\’t afford to play politics, they should be ashamed.

Web Design

April 14th, 2009 by Kevin

My name is Kevin Ecker.  I\’ve been building websites in one form other another for almost 10 years now.   Originally it was just designing and redesigning blog sites for myself and friends.  Then I began creating websites for various organizations on a volunteer basis.  Some of those websites started getting pretty complex and I was spending a lot of time developing them.

Eventually after turning down offers to build websites for pay, I\’ve finally decided to hire out my skills.  Primarily I use the Joomla platform to create websites.  It\’s such a powerful tool and so easy for people to learn, that it almost a waste not to take advantage of it.

Here are a few of the sites I\’ve worked on recently:

EckerNet.Com

True North

SD37 Republicans

CD2 Republicans

CD4 Republicans

CD6 Republicans

Minnesota Young Republicans

Restoring Liberty

Chris Gerlach for Senate

Obama Derangement Syndrome Diagnosed

April 13th, 2009 by Kevin

In the past few years crazy liberals have been labeled as being afflicted with Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) since it drove them to do crazy things. Mass rallies where they really embarrassed themselves.  Cries of Nazism and Fascism at the slightest (or no) provocation.  It’s not hard to find plenty of examples of this rather strange syndrome.

After the election many conservatives warned others not to fall to Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS).  For the most part conservatives haven’t although there are exceptions (as always).  But that doesn’t mean ODS hasn’t still struck, except to the opposite people we expected.  Liberals have been simply besides themselves lately because well….this just wasn’t the way it was supposed to be!!

Guns were supposed to go out of style.  It was going to be a kinder, gentler world, hand delivered by our savior  Obama who was going to ride in on his white unicorn, farting rainbows and shitting puppies.  Instead we have obscenely high demands for firearms of all types.  Depressing shortages of ammunition of all calibers.  And support for gun control is falling as fast as gravity can take it.  And even accounting for factors such as the economy, there is no explanation other than Obama.

Also, the world was supposed to love us again.  Instead we’ve gotten no additional assistance for allies and our enemies have not recoiled at blinding white light that is Obama.  Instead our enemies have been pushed their limits even more, positive they can get away with it, and so far there has been nothing to prove them wrong.  Our allies instead of falling victim to the spirit of cooperation, have instead been even more resistant to our pleas.  Some of that may be due to Obama’s rather unique (inept) form of diplomacy that seems to grant less courtesy to our allies than to others.  The treatment of the Queen of England versus the King of Saudi Arabia is only one small and recent, although convenient, example.

The American people were supposed to drown in a sea of utopian happiness.  Everyone was supposedly going to gladly offer up their hard earned wages and offer no protest to the Obama Administration’s outrageous spending proposals.  After all, it was all for the greater good and the community as a whole.  Instead, the growing trend of Tea Parties across the country were first ignored, and now just seem to stymie their best attempts to understand the phenomenon.  Instead they’ve tried to label the Tea Parties as funded by Fox News, or part of a vast right wing conspiracy, or [ insert next lunatic theory here ].  The idea of this being a true grassroots effort is truly beyond comprehension.  Ordinary people just weren’t supposed to do this in the Age of Obama!!

Obama Derangement Syndrome is here and it’s real, except it afflicts those previously afflicted with Bush Derangement Syndrome.  One would be tempted to simply call these people deranged and leave it at that.  Their world is falling apart.  They had built up this utopia in their mind and they’ve been fighting for it for over a generation now.  They controlled the House and the Senate, now they just needed a leader, nah, a messiah to lead this country into the promised land of utopian socialism.  Then comes Obama with his smooth voice and uplifting rhetoric, and they trifecta was complete!  But none of it is turning out the way they planned, and we’re likely to see the greatest temper tantrum this side of your average two-year-old.

Digital Cameras : Suggestions Here….

April 13th, 2009 by Kevin

Pretty sure I\’ll be retiring my current digital camera here very soon.  It\’s served me well over the years, including taking the brunt of an assault on my person at an illegal immigration rally.  But it\’s frigging huge, heavy, bulky and  very prone to blurriness if not using the flash for some reason.  Plus it still has a very huge delay between when I press the button and the actual taking of the photograph. All of which I\’d like to move away from.  And heh, I got it as a Christmas present approximately 37 years ago so I think it\’s held on pretty good.

I know the prices have come down quite a bit but I haven\’t kept up on what is \”good\” in the digital camera field.  Ok in truth I never did keep up on it…hence why my first and only digital camera was a present from someone else.   So I\’m looking for suggestions from the audience (all two of you).

Preferably would like something small and flat.  I\’m not taking wedding pictures here so I don\’t need NSA-level spy satellite resolution here.  Mostly for general day-to-day use, with the occasional use at rallies, conventions and hunting trips.

Suggestions are appreciated.  Links are more than welcome.

Schumer : The Era Of Traditional Values Are Over

April 12th, 2009 by Kevin

Uh….what??

Oh and according to Schumer all this talk of bipartisanship is just that…talk.  And we won\’t get real bipartisanship until Republicans basically just do whatever Democrats want.  Schumer, I don\’t think that word means what you think it means.
