Obama Can Kiss My Brass

March 18th, 2009 by Kevin

It’s no secret that the Obama administration is one of the worst administrations within our lifetime when it comes to the Second Amendment.  His past statements and actions make it clear he does not hold the Second Amendment in high regard….well any regard.

There has been debate amongst the Second Amendment community (ugh I hate that word), about what the ultimate aims of the Obama administration are.  Conventional wisdom suggests that multiple Second Amendment raping laws, along with an “Assault Weapons” Ban are in the works.  Still others insist that even that is not necessary, the same aims can be achieve through much less ambitious and more stealthy means, without the political liability of an Assault Weapons Ban.

Among the latter, the prevailing opinion is that the more likely methods of gun control is the very thing that makes a gun a tool rather than just a hunk of heavy metal….ammunition.  Without it, guns are just processed steel and wood.  Restrict the ability of the common citizen to get that, and you’ve effectively banned firearms without any of the messy political side effects.  This can be done pretty easily….make ammunition too expensive for the common citizen to afford and you’ve achieve gun control.

We’ve seen hints that the Obama administration will be taking this approach, by considering the banning of foreign imports of ammunition.  In a market already plagued with shortages and hoarding, this would certainly send already skyrocketing prices through the roof.  But there is always the option of reloading, where private citizens reload expended ammunition in their own homes.  And private citizens have increasingly taken this route.

So it’s no surprise that the first concrete move of the Obama Administration against the Second Amendment is a move that will cut off virtually all avenues of resistance to a tyrannical government.  By cutting off private industry access to one of the basic materials needed for ammunition….brass.

Previously when the military expended rounds during training, it was left with lots of leftover shell casings that it had no use for, but which the private industry had lots of uses for.  Selling them to the private industry allowed the military to recoup some of their costs and the private industry was able to reuse resources.  Efficient, economical and environmentally sound….obviously the Obama administration had to put an end to it.

By putting an end to one of the best sources of pre-made brass casings the private industry has, this ensures that they’ll have to remake those brass casings, itself a waste of time, money and resources.   Costs will skyrocket affecting both manufactured ammunition as well as reloaded ammunition.  End result is that everything from that scary looking black assault weapon to your kid’s .22 target rifle is a really expensive wood club.

Best thing you can do is contact your legislators.  At the end of the post here, you can find a very well written letter you can send in to your legislators, or you can write your own.  Then you can go to Congress.Org, type in your zip code and then send the letter to all your legislators.
