Spent the weekend in Duluth with the girlfriend to compensate her for putting up with me for a year.  If anyone is looking for a good Bed&Breakfast in Duluth, I’d highly recommend the Ellery House.  A nice getaway in a town full of distractions.  But while I was gone ignoring the world, lots of stuff happened….here’s some that caught my interest.

Overwhelmed with all the possible feature??  Think go and build a custom model with all the goodies you might want.  Think collapse and cry when you look at the price.  Then feel a little better when you realize none of your parts are in stock anyway and likely won’t be until some time in the 22nd century.

All those busy body Hollywood type always justify their extravagent lifestyles by saying they buy carbon credits and pay people to plant a bunch of trees someplace.  Well unfortunately, according to environmentalists planting trees is a waste of time.

The Minnesota state government is getting into the loan business….specifically for Muslims.  I guess I don’t so much mind the program, but it does bother me that the state is getting into the mortgage business.  If there were truly a market for this (and I think there probably is!) then private industry can fill the gap just as good (likely better!) than the state can.

Obama is too tired to give Britain’s Prime Minister a proper welcome?  What’s he going to do when we hit a real crisis?

Ok we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.  Why’s he so tired?? Well apparently he’s been busy with the economy.  Well then why is the Department that should be leading that effort (Treasury) not even answering their phones and talking to our international partners whose cooperation we’ll need.  And why is every prominent seat, except for one, in that Department STILL unfilled??  And the one that is, is filled by a tax cheat.

A vast left wing conspiracy??  Dozens of left wing organizations are coordinating their message and strategies with daily morning conference calls.  If Bush had tried this….  Although you can’t really get too upset, it’s smart politics after all.  But it comes from the same people that just months ago were complaining about Vast Right Wing Conspiracies and Republican Noise Machines and Conservative Echo-Chambers.

Sheriff Arpaio, of the inmate work camp and pink pjs fame, has been astoundingly successful in catching illegal aliens for deportation.  So successful that his department accounts for a full ONE THIRD of the entire nation’s of inmates who have been held for deportation.  Impressive for one department.  So what sort of recognition does that bring?  Apparently an investigation from the Justice Department.  Funny world we live in now.  Where enforcing the law brings more action than breaking it.

So during Bush’s administration liberals decried the plight of veterans and according to them our VA hospitals were falling down and service was horrible.  So Obama couldn’t make it worse could they?? How about charging veterans for medical care related to injuries they sustained in service to their country??  Which pretty much makes them uninsurable.

Yeah the Commander of the American Legion is pissed too.  Democrats, when you’re wondering in 2010 and 2012 why veterans and military groups don’t like you….this is why.

Bill Clinton, despite his attempts to play doctor with his staff, apparently isn’t very good at biology.  And is apparently not aware that an embryo IS a fertilized egg.

Good to see that Iran is finally cooperating with our attempts to bring peace to Iraq.  Apparently we’re shooting down Iranian drones over Iraq now.

Twenty thousand earmarks later, now Obama is willing to crack down on earmarks.  Probably because the Democrats already got them all out of their system.

Obama to put troops on our border??  Depends on what sort of role they play.  If they are just there to stand by and report, it’s not going to accomplish much.  If they are only there to intersect drugs, then what about illegal immigrants?  Of course then there is the Posse Comitatus issue.

So how do you know when you’re a true badass, possibly even comparable to Chuck Norris??  Well it’s probably about when you get in an underwater wrestling match with a Tiger Shark and you WIN.

This is a recession after my own heart.  Previously guns and ammo were the only recession proof industry.  Now it turns out condom sales are recession proof too.  Alcohol sales are also proving to be recession proof.  Guns, sex and alcohol….we’ve officially achieved the happy fun times trifecta!

So being a Ron Paul fan is apparently now proof that basically you’re a cultist or something.

Don’t look now, first Rasmussen, now Pew, Obama’s sliding approval rate is now officially a trend.

Heartbreak….now Ron Paul is okay with earmarks.  Which means all the Paulbots, you got your talking points for the next couple months.

First Republicans, then independents, now Democrats….every one is in agreement, Obama and his cronies are incompetent.

Now the Obama administration is saying that an “excess of fear” is what’s really holding down this economy and we need to get over it.  This from the same administration that’s been giving repeated speeches over how horrible things are and how they’ve never been this bad.  I think we’ve moved on from “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” to “the only thing we have to fear is another Obama speech”.
