I Have Got To Be Dreaming

March 30th, 2009 by Kevin

\"\"Surely our Congress critters aren\’t this insistent upon flaunting the will of the American public? Yeah, that\’s right, the DREAM Act has been introduced yet again in Congress, with bi-partisan support.  Despite the fact that the public has responded with overwhelming opposition every other time it\’s been brought up, it\’s still dragged out for another shot.

It\’s been introduced in both the Senate (S 729) and the House (HR 1751).  It\’s Republican supporters are Senators Lugar and Martinez.  It\’s time to once again remind the inmates that apparently run this asylum, that when we said we didn\’t want the DREAM Act the first 200 times we actually meant it.  Seriously, not kidding.  So first things last, how you get involved, and THEN I\’ll tell you why you should get involved.

Pick up your phone, your Congress Critters need to hear from you ASAP.
Senator Klobuchar – 202-224-3244
Representative Michelle Bachmann – 202-225-2331
Representative Keith Ellison – 202-225-4755
Representative John Kline – 202-225-2271
Representative Betty McCollum – 202-225-6631
Representative James Oberstar – 202-225-6211
Representative Erik Paulsen – 202-225-2871
Representative Collin Peterson – 202-225-2165
Representative Tim Walz – 202-225-2472

If you’ve never made a call or aren’t sure what to say, I’ll spell it out for you.

Hi, my name is xxxxxxx yyyyyyy, and I live in Minnesota. I’m calling about bill S. 729 or H1751, the DREAM Act, and I would like to ask Senator Klobuchar/Representative ???? to please vote against this bill of amnesty. Thank you.

It’s really that simple. Depending on the Congress Critter’s office and/or the staffer, they may ask your city or zip code or may just say thank you.  Now if you want to say more you can, but BE POLITE! Passions run wild and emotions get high. You may think the Senator/Representative would be a perfect outlet for those statements, but remember, you’re talking to a staffer who has already talked to hundreds of people like you.

Now….about those bills.  The actual text of either bill isn\’t yet available, but past revisions of the DREAM Act have all been pretty similiar and have included the following:

Amnesty – Basically any illegal immigrant can claim he was brought into the country before a certain age and they get amnesty.  Generally no checks are required to actually verify this information, so presumably simply a signed statement is enough.  And there is generally no age limit, so you could be 80 years old and claim to have been brought in by your parents 65 years ago.  Some educational requirements have typically come with this in order to preserve the feel-good aspect of the legislation, but those requirements have been so broad and/or vague as to be pretty much non-existent.

Free Instate-Tuition – It provides in-state tuition for illegal aliens at public universities. We don’t even provide in-state tuition to most American citizens from other states. In a nutshell, you are giving foreign students an advantage over American students, and putting illegal aliens on a fast track to citizenship over legal aliens who have played by the rules.  So while your son/daughter is struggling to afford college, your tax dollars are being used to pay for some 30-year old illegal alien to attend college just look enough to exploit a loophole.

Chain Migration – Once a student is amnestied they can take advantage of what\’s called \”Chain Migration\”.  Basically they earn the right to legally bring in their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin\’s roommate\’s sister\’s best friend\’s babysitter, etc etc etc.  Which is why border enforcement activists have so vigorously opposed the DREAM Act, it\’s really a broad amnesty under the guise of a feel-good educational program.

Summary – So basically in a time of high unemployment, we\’re going to flood the job market with illegal aliens who will compete with real Americans.  In a time of huge deficits at all level of government, we\’re gonna to take on the additional cost of paying for the education of illegal aliens.

Sounds like a great plan huh??

No, then you know what to do…I told you at the top of this post.

Amnesty is a terrible policy, and it\’s terrible politics. It\’s a terrible policy because you are rewarding people for breaking the law.

Gift NRA Membership

March 29th, 2009 by Kevin

For those of you that aren\’t already a member of the NRA…..well my first question is \”Why the hell not?\”  But you have a chance to rectify this and do it for….well, free.  For a limited time, the NRA is offering a gift membership.  I believe the special ends sometime soon so you should probably sign up now.

Even better consider ponying up for an extended membership and tossing some cash their way.  They do good work.

Or if you like to keep your money local, I\’d highly recommend the Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance (GOCRA).  They don\’t have the prettiest website on the planet, but I can assure you that their business end (lobbying and activism) is top notch and they\’ve done more work behind the scenes than almost anyone else on the Second Amendment.

The Offer For Obama To Kiss My Brass Has Been Rescinded

March 29th, 2009 by Kevin

Previously I posted on a DoD policy that would require the military to destroy all shell casings rather than just resell them to the private industry.

So it’s no surprise that the first concrete move of the Obama Administration against the Second Amendment is a move that will cut off virtually all avenues of resistance to a tyrannical government.  By cutting off private industry access to one of the basic materials needed for ammunition….brass.

Previously when the military expended rounds during training, it was left with lots of leftover shell casings that it had no use for, but which the private industry had lots of uses for.  Selling them to the private industry allowed the military to recoup some of their costs and the private industry was able to reuse resources.  Efficient, economical and environmentally sound….obviously the Obama administration had to put an end to it.

Since then I\’ve noticed that the DoD has rescinded that policy due to public outcry especially by a couple of Democratic Senators.  The change in policy actually happened awhile ago, but I didn\’t notice it till now.

STATEMENT FROM NRA CHIEF LOBBYIST CHRIS W. COX
Military Surplus Cartridge Case Issue Resolved

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Yesterday morning, the Department of Defense informed NRA-ILA that fired military small arms cartridge cases are once again eligible for sale, following a temporary suspension in such sales instituted last week. NRA-ILA began discussions with DoD shortly after the suspension took effect, and we were assured from the beginning that efforts were underway to resolve the issue favorably.

Yesterday afternoon, DoD additionally confirmed the lifting of the suspension to pro-Second Amendment United States Senators Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.), who sent the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) a joint letter vigorously opposing the suspension, on the grounds that it had \”an impact on small businesses who sell reloaded ammunition utilizing these fired casings, and upon individual gun owners who purchase spent military brass at considerable cost savings for their personal use.\”

Everyone who would have been impacted by the suspension, had it become permanent, owes thanks to Senator Baucus for his leadership on this issue, as well as to Sen. Tester and U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.), who also weighed in strongly on behalf of gun owners and the suppliers from whom they obtain ammunition reloaded with surplus military brass.

In announcing that the suspension has been lifted, DoD also made clear that no cartridge cases that, in the absence of the suspension, would have been sold for reloading purposes were destroyed while the suspension was in effect. Such cases were instead protected by DoD during the suspension, and are again eligible for sale. With ammunition currently in short supply, that was welcome news, to be sure.

DLA also put to rest various theories and rumors that were circulated on the internet, concerning the reason for the suspension. As DLA explained to Senators Baucus and Tester, and to NRA-ILA, DoD officials responsible for the demilitarization of military property temporarily halted the release of the cartridge cases last week, pending review of a policy change issued last year by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, which, in the interest of national security, halted the sale of items within a broad category of government property including, but not limited to, surplus small arms cartridge cases.

To make cartridge cases eligible for sale once again, DoD demilitarization officials verified that the cases could be appropriately placed in a category of government property allowing for their release for use within the United States, and then executed the recategorization. Whereas during the brief suspension, fired cartridge cases would have been releaseable only if the purchaser crushed or smelted them, now the cases may be sold as before, intact and reloadable.

DoD also assured NRA-ILA that companies previously authorized to purchase cartridge cases under Trade Security Controls need no further vetting at this time, and are eligible to resume purchasing cases under the policy adopted yesterday.

In sum, a problem that could have had serious repercussions for the remanufactured ammunition industry and the countless gun owners who support it, appears to have been resolved quickly.

Thank you to all that made noise about this.  And also this should serve as a lesson that not all Democrats are bad guys, and there are even a few we can rely on to take the lead on pro-Second Amendment issues.

Kudos to Tester and Baucus, and my extreme thanks for their leadership on this issue.

Deep Thoughts With Kevin

March 26th, 2009 by Kevin

Greatest disappearing act ever??  Whatever happens to those nine hours left after six hours of sleep and nine hours of work.  And this week still took a month.

\"\" I\’ve heard of some pretty creative ways to ask for a raise, but barricading your boss in his office and not letting him leave until he gives you a raise is one I hadn\’t even thought of.  I\’ll have to try that next time.

\"\" Did universal health care lead to the death of Natasha Richardson??  Well if you\’ve paid any attention to the performance of universal health care anywhere it\’s been tried, you know the answer is probably yes.

\"\" For a guy that\’s really busy with the economy, Obama apparently has a lot of free time.  Although it\’s not like he really has anything to do, I mean with his administration fully staffed he\’s got people to handle it right??

\"\" IRONY ALERT…we\’re bailing regulated institutions out using unregulated institutions…yet more regulation is the key to recovery.

\"\"MORE IRONY ALERT…Howard Dean and Olbermann urge civility towards President….having apparently forgotten their own statements the last eight years.

\"\" From the \”Holy Shit, They Can Do That?\” Department….DARPA is learning how to regrow human limbs, Phase One is complete, Onto Phase Two.

\"\" Awesome, we\’ve already returned to the conspiratorial ways of the Clinton administration.  AG Eric Holder is telling the San Fransisco PD to keep quiet about an investigation that\’s 40 years old.  The fact that it would be politically damaging for the Obama Administration probably has nothing to do with it.

\"\" From the \”What Could Go Wrong?\” Department, the same group that screws up everything it touches, now wants power to do even more.  Yeah I see no problem with that….makes perfect sense.

\"\" Britain has some of the strictest gun control laws in the world, and yet they are still having problems with crimes committed with guns.  Gosh, it\’s almost as if criminals don\’t care if they are breaking the law.  Who would have thought that?

\"\" Turns out there is a bank out there that was NOT making shitty loans and taking huge risks.  In fact that bank is doing very well.  So how is this model of fiscal responsibility being treated?? Surely they are a model for the future of banking right???  Eh, well, since we elected Obama you know that\’s not the case…they\’re being punished.

\"\" Bombshell Study : Politicians suck at the Intertubes.  Of course some (including me) would argue that\’s not exclusive to the internet.

\"\" ACORN, the group that\’s been charged with fraud in virtually every state that they exist, is now helping out with the Census.  What could go wrong?

\"\" Those of you wishing for sharks with friggin lasers on their heads, you might get your wish soon.  The Defense industry has a battlefield strength laser now.  Now the concentration is on miniaturization and technical issues.  We\’ll have a Death Star before you know it.

\"\" Speaking of laser killing…we now have a device that automatically kills millions of mosquitos in minutes.  My only question is will it be ready by Memorial Day??

\"\" Okay serious question, can Obama do ANYTHING without a teleprompter??  Hypothetically lets say he needs to take a Presidential Pee, does he need a teleprompter to tell him how to find the Presidential Penis??

\"\" Incidentally, Google returns 1,510,000 results for \”Presidential Pee\” and 2,310,000 results for \”Presidential Penis\”.

\"\" I\’m still not sure if the Google results above amuse or scare me.

\"\" What is the funniest (non-intentionally) website on the interwebs?? By far the website of North Korea.  It\’s like taking a time machines back to the geocities era of the internet.  If you feel like giggling your ass off, just read through it.  Oh and they have a \”Fan Club\”!!!

\"\" Did you know there is an established pattern that leads a country to become a banana republic?? No, yeah me neither.  Guess what else you didn\’t know?? That we\’re well on the way to completing that list.

\"\" Heh guess what? Wages go up for legal workers after an immigration raid.  Of course, that shouldn\’t come as a surprise to…..well, anyone whose been paying attention or possesses a basic understanding of supply&demand.

\"\" Put a fork in Dodd, he\’s done.

\"\" Some folk just don\’t appreciate what they have.

\"\" California is way deep in debt, you\’d think they\’d appreciate any business they could get.  But instead they are too busy banning stuff.

\"\" Actually now that I think about it, California is in about the same shape as Mexico is.  Wonder if we could trade them California for a bottle of Tequila.

\"\" China is totally not afraid of the Internet, seriously.  The fact that they are blocking even more if is totally unrelated.  It\’s one of those \”It\’s not you, it\’s me….but it\’s also totally you\” situations.

\"\" The only thing this Obama movement is missing is a compound in Montana and then they are officially a cult.  Fortunately with the real estate market like it is, I bet they could get a pretty good deal on one.

\"\" Honeymoon is officially over….and in record time.

\"\" Cities now imposing a daytime curfew on students…see this is why when I have kids I\’m just locking them in the basement until they turn 18.

\"\" When Democrats start talking about shifting money from lower priorities, you know you\’re going to have a problem.  Previously we just didn\’t have the money and resources in order to enforce our own borders, even Napolitano suggested that herself.  But now that she\’s taking on the additional duty of quelling violence spilling over from Mexico, she says she doesn\’t need a bigger budget….she\’ll just shift over money from lower priorities tasks.  Anyone want to take a wild guess what that is?

\"\" Head of the Border Patrols union, the people actually on the ground, on the other hand thinks her plan sucks.

\"\" Awesome, with out debt we couldn\’t even get into the E.U.  That\’s a bit like Michael Phelps failing to make the varsity high school swim team.

\"\" The guy paying all those \”grassroots\” liberal activists is apparently having a hell of a year.

\"\" Don\’t look now, but Social Security just went broke.  That\’s impossible, just a couple years ago Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi both said a crisis doesn\’t exist.

The Culture Of Incompetence Rolls On

March 26th, 2009 by Kevin

Dear Obama,

It\’s been written about the Culture of Incompetence that seems to infect your entire administration.  So with that in mind, we\’d all appreciating if you \”Shut the Hell Up!\”.  Every time either you or one of your administration says anything about the economy it tanks even further.

In a blink of an eye, the U.S. dollar has collapsed against the Euro, Japanese Yen and other major currencies. The trigger was comments from Tim Geithner who said that the U.S. is \”quite open\” to China\’s suggestion of moving towards a Special Drawing Right (SDR) linked currency system. If the world adopts the SDR, which was created by the IMF as an international reserve asset, it would mean that countries around the world would need to hold less U.S. dollars. The U.S. is probably open to this suggestion because a weaker dollar is stimulative for the U.S. economy and would relieve the U.S. from having to implement effective monetary policy while balancing the international demand for a reserve currency.

Geithner\’s comments indicate that the U.S. is not taking China\’s suggestion with a grain of salt and instead is giving it legitimacy. This is extremely important ahead of the G20 meeting. The only question is whether this is another amateur mistake by the new U.S. Treasury Secretary.

You guys need to get your act together.  Every time you open you mouth, you mess things up worse.  And what\’s more there seems to consistently be conflicting stories coming out of the administration.  Part of the problem is you barely have anyone working at the Treasury Department, and you don\’t ever meet with the few ones you do, despite requirements to do so.

So since you seem set on incompetence, we\’d appreciate it if you would just let the market fix itself.  It\’s probably happen a lot quicker without your interference.

Sincerely,

The American Public

Woot Off!!

March 25th, 2009 by Kevin

Get out the way, we got a Woot Off
We’re pigging out down at the Woot trough
Ain’t gonna stop until the Woot Off is done

You figure you get one Woot per day
And if it’s junk then that’s just the way
But now an avalanche of Woots is released
And where there once was famine we feast

It’s giving me an F5 complex,
Refreshing just to see what’s up next
Checking back to shop for what’s new
I don’t want it but I hope that you do

Cause a new Item won’t come up
Until all of these are gone.

Those are the rules of the Woot Off
We’re pigging out down at the Woot trough
Ain’t gonna stop ‘till the Woot Off is done

Now there’s another item on line
A cell phone with a weird-ass design
How will this thing ever sell out?
This will start a new item drought

Who would ever buy this dumb thing?
The Woot Off is so frus-ter-a-ting
I’m posting in the blog to decry
This thing you couldn’t pay me to buy

Well you could ridicule and signify it
But someone’s gonna have to buy it

Those are the rules of the Woot Off
We’re pigging out down at the Woot trough
Ain’t gonna stop ‘till the Woot Off is done

It\’s even better when put to music

We Are NOT Arming Mexican Gangs

March 25th, 2009 by Kevin

The usually ignorant Navarette has parroted it.  President Obama has blabbed about it.  Department of Homeland Insecurity Janet Napolitano has suggested it.  This idea that the drug gangs responsible for the violence in that failed state we call Mexico are getting their heavy weapons from the United States.  Problem with this idea is it\’s wrong.  It\’s been repeatedly proven to be wrong.  And pretending it has any validity not only wastes resources but it provides credibility to those seeking to intrude upon Second Amendment rights.

Even the most minimal amount of intelligent thought should bear that out…

“Quite frankly, in Mexico you can’t be armed enough,” said Mr Bethea. “The dynamic of this combat is approaching the early days of the Iraq war. The cartels’ men are well trained, disciplined and are armed with the latest weaponry, including armour-piercing bullets, rocket-launchers and grenades.”

AP bullets? Rocket Launchers? Grenades??  I got news for you folks, those aren\’t coming from the US.  Those are already very illegal in the US.  At best, if they are coming from the US they are being sold out the backdoor of US military armories, and that\’s the fault of people like President Obama, not US citizens.

But once again, the most basic of intelligent thought should suggest a completely different source.  Central America.  Why would drug gangs waste their time with jumping through all the legal hurdles to get basic weapons in the United States at inflated prices, when they can get heavy weapons for dirt cheap from Central America?

Of course none of this should be suprising to our elected leaders.  Recently the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on this very issue.  And basically the end result is that nobody on the ground believes these weapons are coming from the US, there is no need for further laws.  And the point is made that we have lots of guns in this country but don\’t have the level of violence Mexico does.  It\’s almost as if guns themselves aren\’t the problem, and that perhaps a wall type structure should be built to keep out some of the crazy asshats who use weapons in such a violent and dangerous fashion.

But really when it comes down to it, this is just another episode of \”Blame America First\”.
