So Pelosi is finally relenting to public pressure and is willing to let states drill off their shores….but only if they forgo any royalties on their own natural resources. The likelihood that any state is going to be willing to just surrender millions (billions?) of easy money is virtually nil, meaning no new drilling would take place.

What could possibly posses Pelosi to demand that?? Well, the alternative would just be too much work.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters that sharing royalties with the states would force Congress to overhaul the entire budget, an impossible task just three weeks before the beginning of a new fiscal year.

Pay-as-you-go rules adopted by lawmakers require them to offset any surrender of federal revenue with cuts in spending, she said.

Republicans scoffed at the explanation, noting that Democrats have not invoked “pay-go” in signing off a multi billion-dollar bailout of mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

Excuse me Pelosi, but last I checked the Constitution (remember that), the federal budget was part of your God damn job!!! Quite your damn whining and just do your job, so the rest of us can have some extra money left over after doing ours. You were elected to actually do your job, not just whine about how tough it is.
