In Defense Of Palin?? Bah, It’s Not Necessary

September 3rd, 2008 by Kevin

Many of my fellow bloggers, and even some political pundits are declaring outrage at some of the critique of Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech. Cries of sexism and queries of whether these questions would be asked if it was a man chosen for VP, are sounding far and wide.

Me? I not gonna bother.

Why?? Because ultimately it only benefits Palin and she’s already proven that she’s more than capable of handling it. Part of me even wonders if she thrives off it.

Even if one looked only at her acceptance speech, it’s obvious this is no fragile flower of a woman. She has no problem being tough and aggressive. She can defend herself and honestly I think it puts her in her element. She’s earned the reputation of being a tough tenacious figher, and a spirit like that likes to be challenged. So let them challenge her. Let them underestimate her. Let them mock her. I think she’ll answer back much better than she takes.

If you doubt that, just look at the events of the last few days. Liberals and the media have been attacking her family, her own child (remember she’s under 18). How did she respond?? Did she retreat?? Did she give some long rambling speech Obama-style trying to obfuscate it away? No she embraced it and even had her the father of her daughter’s unborn child join her on stage as part of the family.

And I think the public is smart enough to pick up on this. Here they are gonna see a strong tough independent woman. Then they are gonna see the condescension she’s putting up with. I have to believe that most of these attacks are just going to backfire on those that use them.

Sexism? Double Standards? Condescension?? Sure, but who cares? Clearly Palin doesn’t, in fact she seems to enjoy it and it works to her benefit anyway. This is a woman who is is capable of virtually anything she puts her mind to. I mean she got conservatives to rally around John McCain!!! That miracle alone puts her on the track to sainthood.

Bring. It. On.

How so true that final line of yours is. I was blissfully happy being a huge McCain skeptic, and then he goes and adds Gov. Palin to the ticket. Damn, so much for all of those tuff words about not casting a vote…
