We had been out in the field not even 30 minutes, when my buddy damn near stepped right on a rattlesnake. Scared the shit out of all of us. Rest of the day I spent more time looking at the ground for snakes than out at the surrounding hills for prairie dogs. We knew they were out there. We've seen them before. But didn't expect to see it ten minutes into the trip. And what's more you had three grown men with no less than five firearms amongst us and none of us had the presence of mind to do something.
