Deep Thoughts With Kevin

eh, it’s another addition of one of my more popular features.
The recent outage at an FAA air traffic control facility has raised the visibility of our nation’s air traffic control system. Without going into detail, this is an area I’m intimately familiar with. Is our system horribly antiquated? Yes. Is it improving?? Sure, especially in the last year. Is there a great deal of waste effort and billions of dollars being wasted? Absolutely. Is ignorance bliss??? Quite.
Poverty. Apparently that word doesn’t mean what I thought it means anymore.
Attention Nagin : Here is how you competently prepare for a hurricane. And Jindal got it right on his first try.
Hypocrisy. When Vice President Cheney asks for deferments from military service, it’s a horrible despicable thing. When the Democrat Vice-Presidential Candidate Joe Biden does it….well then it’s okay.
I find it incredibly surprising that a majority of the public would support a strike on Iran. I would have figured that after Iraq and Afghanistan that the American public wouldn’t have the stomach for it. Still don’t think it would be wise (at least not at the moment) but apparently the public support is there for it.
Al Gore, please call your office. The sun just completed it’s first month in nearly a century in which there were no sunspots detected. Golly, I wonder if reduced activity by that big burning ball in the sky might have something to do with our climate. Well the last three times this happened in the last 1000 years, it leads to rapid cooling.
As governor of the strategically important state of Alaska, it turns out that Gov. Palin may be more briefed on national security matters than either Biden or Obama.
Europe appears as if it’s being probed for a cyber-attack by the usual suspects. That does not bode well for tensions, or the risk of a new Cold War, to be going away.
A longstanding trend is apparently continuing. The Republican Party has historically done a piss-poor job of accommodating bloggers, and it remains so at the RNC. On the other hand, the Democrats have generally done a good job of accommodating bloggers (even conservative ones), and that remained so at the DNC. I’ve never attended a national convention, but I can tell you that this years MN state convention had awful….actually non-existant accomodations. Although in 2006, they weren’t too bad.
You know things are bad when it’s barely September and people are already writing “How Obama Lost The Election” or “Obama’s Biggest Mistakes (so far)” or a list of three things Obama shouldn’t do….and he’s already done them.
It’s official. Obama’s Chicago is more deadly than Baghdad.
Missed the RNC?? Well watch the youtube video of Sarah Palin’s speech and read this list of the 20 best quotes and you got the important parts.
God bless science and stem cell research!!! Now they are using it to make bigger breasts. I’m so happy I could cry!
God bless science and laser research!!! Now they are on the verge of building the Death Star….well, at least their close to weapon-grade lasers. I’m so happy I could cry!
I wonder if trees can get headaches?

I can attest personally to the bloggers being ill-treated. I looked all over the convention center complex for them, and only because I found the Lady Logician roaming the halls on Thursday did I find them at all. Not even a sign of recognition that these were the “new Media”! Perhaps somebody should write to the host committee and complain?
