If your parents gave you a shitty name like Moonbeam or Dysheakee or something, chances are good you’re not saving college money, you’re saving bail money.

For every 10% increase in minimum wage, unemployment among the low-skilled (basically those that would earn minimum wage) increases by 8.5%. End result, no result on alleviating poverty, but big results in lots of unemployed teens and minorities. And even more importantly, end result is more punk kids on my lawn instead of learning how to hold a job and be productive by making my french fries.

The politics of oil shale….it’s a depressing read. Basically the summary is that we are complete and utter fucking morons. Or more precisely we’re literally sitting on a shit load of oil and we’re repeatedly screwing over oil companies who are spending their own cash to try to increase supply (read : reduce prices).

Due in large part to the fact that they basically share the same position on immigration and the fact that it’ll piss off a lot of people, Obama and McCain have basically decided they just aren’t going to discuss illegal immigration this election.

This is apparently what they call “leadership” in Washington, and apparently “hope” and “change” are on hiatus today.

So remember how I mentioned that Obama and McCain share the same position on immigration?? Yeah, apparently they share the same position on a lot of stuff.

Cue the establishment Republican leader wondering why conservatives are pissed off and “grouchy” in 3…2…1…

The Texas GOP is worried that Republicans are “grouchy” and many probably won’t show up on Election Day. You could pretty much substitute “Minnesota” for “Texas” in this article and it would be equally applicable. Money quote is :

President Bush has signed an executive order requiring govt contractors to verify that their employees are not illegal aliens.

For those of you that are wondering why this wasn’t done, oh…..seven years ago, Bush has a brightly colored stuff monkey he’d like you all to be distracted by look at….also known as Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

Oh by the way, remember when Michael Chertoff claimed we had ended catch-and-release?? Yeah, we haven’t. So if you believed him the last time he said it, despite the fact that he’s made the claim dozens of times before, well…..just wait, I’m sure he’ll claim it again soon.

The NRA would like to explain to you why Obama sucks. Although if the Second Amendment is important to you and you didn’t already know this….well, you probably shouldn’t be using firearms….or forks….ya know, why don’t we just strike out anything sharper than a mattress.

Three-fourths of Minnesota sophomores passed their reading test….which for those of you that failed your math test, means that 25% of them are functionally illiterate.

Imagine that….it only took 10 years of government schooling to teach 3 out of 4 children to read.

Oh if you missed the news, the country is getting it’s first new refinery in like 89,865,942 32 years. Now if we could just build a new nuclear plant and drill for domestic oil we might even be able to claim progress. Don’t look to Norm Coleman for help though…he just voted with Democrats to impose even more unnecessary taxes on oil companies

Oh goodie, Ron Paul is holding his own convention in Minneapolis this year. I guess the whole revolution thing is officially over then huh?? I mean it’s not really a revolution if you’re just doing your own thing rather than recreating what already exists yeah?

So yeah, that end of inactivity from the sun we’ve been waiting for….still nothing. Of course it’s probably George Bush’s fault anyway.

Our border?? Still unsecured…which explains why we just spent $1.6 billion to secure Mexico and Central Americas borders.

The RNC is struggling to find enough volunteers for the national convention in St. Paul this year. They want 10,000, but they’ve only found 4,000 so far. Since this is clearly “a job Americans won’t do”, perhaps President Bush should import some illegal aliens to help out. There are already 12+ million of them in the country, shouldn’t be too hard to find 6,000 of them.

Not quite sure why we’re buying Saudi Arabia a nuclear power plant.  Not only because we’re apparently unwilling to build one for our own use.  And nevermind that this is something that Saudi Arabia should be able to accomplish on their own, since they are fat with oil cash.  But probably most importantly, doesn’t this pretty well undermine our own efforts to prevent Iran from developing their own program??
