Amnesty Returns!!

Senator Feinstein is up to her old tricks again.  She has repeatedly tried to attach AgJobs to other pieces of legislation, but public outcry has defeated her every time.  Now apparently she feels that the public has been lulled to sleep on this issue and she\’s gonna try it again.

Both NumbersUSA and FAIR are reporting that Senate staffers have indicated that she will try to add AgJobs as an amendment to the Iraq Supplemental Spending Bill (can you get more non-germane??).  This could happen as early as TODAY!  So call your Senators NOW and let them know you don\’t want this amendment in ANY legislation.

Senator Coleman – (202) 224-5641
Senator Klobuchar – (202) 224-3244

What is AgJobs?? Well….

It’s an awful piece of legislation. Basically what it boils down to is anyone claiming to have worked in agricultural can get amnesty and protection from deportation. Plus it extends to their spouses and children. And there are enough loopholes that pretty much anyone that wants to could find a way to qualify.

And those of you that claim that these are truly jobs that Americans won’t do, can perhaps explain why 55% of farm workers are native-born Americans? And you can also explain why you wish to artificially drive down their wages by importing thousands of replacement workers. And while you’re explaining things, perhaps you can also explain why it would be better to use foreign labor rather than invest in native technology that has made many of these jobs obsolete.

Especially damning is that even discounting all of the above, there is absolutely no need for this type of legislation.  Studies have indicated there is NO labor shortage on American farms.

End result is this is a bad piece of legislation, there is no reason for it and it will harm American workers.  Instead of debating it on it\’s merits, Senator Feinstein and her open-borders lobby of misfits choose to try to sneak it into a non-germane bill since this piece of legislation has been defeated on it\’s lack of merits repeatedly in the past.
