I\’ve touched on the SAVE Act before, and the efforts to bring the bill to a vote. Unfortunately, things have not gone as planned. To force a vote on the bill we need 218 legislators to sign the discharge petition. That seemed like it would be fairly easy to accomplish considering the bill has 149 co-sponsors.

As of the writing of this post, there have been 185 legislators (33 short) who have signed onto the discharge petition, and from what I\’ve read regarding efforts to force a vote most of the GOP delegation has signed it. Which of course begs the question, why hasn\’t it reached 218??

Inquiring minds want to know, so let\’s do a little research. Afterall it\’s easy to add your name as a co-sponsor of a bill, and legislators do it frequently to pad their \”political resume\” and take credit for progress on key issues.

So are there any legislators that are willing to \”talk the talk\” (toss their name on the bill) but when it really comes down to taking action, they don\’t \”walk the walk\” by signing the discharge petition.

For those of you not counting that\’s 41 legislators, almost exclusively Democrats**, who put on a good act when it comes to immigration, but when it comes to actually doing something, they would rather sit on their hands and become another obstruction to progress.

Remember we only need 33 additional signatures to the discharge petition. If we can convince most of this list that we aren\’t going to overlook their talking about both sides of their mouth, perhaps we can salvage something out of this legislative session.

Spread the word. Make your calls. Let\’s let these cowards know than they were put in office for a reason.
