Deep Thoughts With Kevin

January 8th, 2008 by Kevin

Ok had a couple posts I wanted to put together. Didn’t get to them though. Had to go back into work after losing a tough game in OT….which by the way, 32+ degrees…not friendly to a outdoor rink. I blame Al Gore. Regardless, I had a few post ideas in mind that didn’t quite make it to fully developed status. Thought I’d continue my “Random Thoughts” format that people haven’t minded in the past.

- Hillary Crying….yeah yeah yeah, it was staged I know. In my opinion, not only was it stupid, petty and a very amateur move, it was also a bad move. Yeah, Iraq probably won’t be a huge issue in November, but the GWOT still will be. How can you claim to be tough enough to stand up to Al Qaeda if you’re sobbing all over TV all the time. You wanna play with the adults?? Fine, then act like it. Instead, you just reminded every married man in America how much they hate it when their wife uses that secret weapon (crying) to get their way.

- Drudge reported that Hillary might drop out of the race. Now granted this has been almost universally considered to be unlikely at best. However, I think in every falsehood there is a grain of truth, for the most part. And I’m certain there are “what if” conversations going on inside the Clinton campaign. It would be only natural. So I don’t find this quote all that difficult to believe

“She can’t take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada,” laments one top campaign insider to the DRUDGE REPORT. “If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn’t want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats.”

Now while I find the quote believeable, that last part makes me laugh. Clinton brand?!?? When did politicians become breakfast cereal?? Clinton brand?? What brand??? If she loses here, that’s it. Considering a future POTUS run pretty damn unlikely. The Senate is as far as you’re gonna go. What exactly are you looking to conserve this “brand” for???

- By the way, those of you that didn’t think it was that big of a deal for the government to pass a smoking ban, this is the type of stuff you are helping to enable! Once you make it okay for the government to control the personal habits/preferences of individuals, you own a Rosie O’Donnell sized hole in personal privacy.

And yeah, I know what you’re saying. Oh it’s just California doing that, it’ll never happen here. Yeah, that’s what we said about smoking bans too! We ridiculed them as just a crazy California thing. Look where that got us. Years from now, when we’re sitting at our breakfast tables enjoying our Government-Approved cereal with a Government-Approved ration of soy-milk at the Government-Approved time in a house at the Government-Approved temperature with Government-Approved colored walls, I’ll blame you dumbasses that didn’t think the smoking ban was a big deal. And when I say “dumbass”, I don’t mean that in a “Oh he’s not talking about us dear, he’s talking about other people” sort of way, no I mean you.

- Vista still sucks by the way. Haven’t gotten rid of it yet. Mostly because I got a new laptop with XP for Christmas and I haven’t had time for computer games lately, so my motivation for getting my new desktop squared away is minimal. I have determined that not only does Vista not allow other OSs to be installed over it, necessitating a reformat of the drive. But also that even new versions of XP aren’t exactly SATA drive friendly….which considering that pretty much all new harddrives are SATA drives is kinda a bummer. Means you have to “slipstream” the XP installation disc.

Ok that’s all I got…you can go back to doing something important now.

I believe Dick Morris uses that term extensively in “Rewriting History.”
