What is noteworthy is they didn't try this until six years into their administration.

I'm questioning the validity of their statement that they take border enforcement seriously.

50 miles?? Out of 2000. 2.5% Fail.

You seem more convinced that nothing can change than you are willing to concede real progress. It would be noteworthy if they did NOT appeal and pursue the eminently sensible rule that people we KNOW are working illegally should be stopped from doing so. If you want to be concerned about why that was NOT being done until recently, fine, but I like to take comfort in the fact that simple logic may finally be dawning on some of our nation's sworn defenders.

As for the fence, it is my understanding that a 50-mile section of virtual fence has already been completed, and I think it's where I would have most wanted to see it, in Organ Pipe Cactus National Park. There is a scenic park road along the border there which led straight to the freeway into Tucson. It's been "not advised" to American tourists for years because it's "too dangerous." In past years there have been many attacks on Park Rangers, and at least two have been killed by these illegal aliens. There can't be amnesty for /that/, it's despicable. But an ugly fence would spoil the view. If a firtual fence works, it's great.
