I Have A DREAM…That One Day Our Senate Won’t Be Complete Morons

September 19th, 2007 by Kevin

Word is that Durbin will try to bring forth his DREAM Act amendment on Wednesday, so if you were waiting for the last minute to take action, this is it!!!

Our own Senator Coleman is one of the Senators who refuses to pledge to vote against this abysmal amendment, so he needs your encouragement to do so. And our own (unfortunately) Amy Klobuchar, has also steadfastly refused to pledge to vote against it. An updated list of senators can be found here, and don’t let them tell you otherwise….it’s updated within 15 minutes of their pledge.

So call our senators and tell them what you think:

Senator Coleman - 202-224-5641
Senator Klobuchar - 202-224-3244

And in case you needed further reason why to call, let me describe this awful amendment…

  • This amendment provides in-state tuition for all illegal immigrants….we don’t even do that for most Americans! So while your son/daughter is struggling to afford college, your tax dollars are being used to pay for some 30-year old illegal alien to attend college just look enough to exploit a loophole.
  • While this program is theoretically aimed at the children of illegal immigrants, there is NO age limit, nor is there any requirement to prove that you are eligible. You just have to claim so.
  • This amendment is marketed under the “logic” that children shouldn’t have to pay for the mistakes of their parents. Problem being is that once the children are amnestied under this program, they can bring it their parents and get them amnesty. And then their aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces, nephews, brothers friends roommates cousin’s co-workers best-friend, etc.
  • NO background checks are required to get amnesty. That alone should scream terrorists loophole to you. And even if they did accidentally find out the applicatant is a terrorists, they are prevented BY LAW from alerting the necessary authorities, thanks to the confidentiality portion of this amendment.
  • Supporters claim this bill is all about helping illegals better themselves. No true. There is no requirement that illegals actually complete any educational program.
  • Even if they don’t qualify for any of the Alaskan-sized loopholes in this amendment, as long as their application is being processed, they can’t be deported. And since the DHS doesn’t have the resources to organize a garage sale, that will take years.
  • Applicants for amnesty under this program get shoved to the head of the line, ahead of those people that actually followed the law. And since DHS doesn’t have the resources to process the already huge backlog, things like that visa you need for vacation, will suffer.

Sounds like a great program right???

If not, call your Senator TODAY….like NOW and tell them what you think.

Another blogger reports that Coleman has replied and said he is “supportive of this legislation.” I sent the email, I’m calling now.

    I called.

    “Sure, I’ll let him know.”

Just found out that in-state tuition is just a small piece of this “act.” It permits illegals of any age to be granted legal status and to apply for legal status for their parents! It’s amnesty, pure and simple and wrong.

  4. Kevin Says:

That’s kinda why I put in the rest of the article all the things this bill does.

I called Coleman today and wrote both his campaign and his DC congressional office. I think they are tabulating votes on the Amnesty Dream bill, as the individual answering the phone definitely wanted to know which way I wanted him to vote.

After his vote today though in favor of the Webb amendment, I’ve about given up on Coleman. Why doesn’t he just run against Klobuchar in 5 yrs, he votes more like her.

  6. Kevin Says:

I wish I could give you a reason not to give up on Coleman, but….well, I can’t.
