FYI : Power Outage At EckerNet HQ
September 17th, 2007 by
Kevin
Today begins about two straight weeks of remodeling work on the EckerNet HQ. Unfortunately, some of todays work includes physically removing me from the power grid for what is hopefully a relatively short period of time. If it’s only temporary, you’ll barely notice.
If things don’t go as planned, well….you’ll see this it at the top of the page until it’s fixed.
For those concerned about my carbon footprint, I assure you that I am making up for it in other ways. To start with lots and lots of trucks, heavy equipment and non-recyclable, and possibly hazardous, materials will be used. In addition, three full-grown pine trees will become cedar mulch by the end of the month. In addition, while my power is out, I intend to amuse myself by collecting all the plastic I can find, and setting it on fire.
UPDATE : I have power….yeah!

I’ll tack some of that cedar mulch if you are not going to use it! I have a couple of flower beds that will be made very happy.

If you insist on using pine trees to make cedar mulch, you’re going to need a lot more than three. And be careful about burning plastic. Some of it contains cyanide.

The intent is not to make cedar mulch, but more to get rid of the trees because:
1) I hate em
2) They’re ugly and in the way
3) Their branches looks like spaghetti wrapped around the powerline
Cindy : If you want the cedar mulch you’ll have to talk to Dakota Electric, although I suspect they wouldn’t have a problem with it. And it wouldn’t be the dyed variety.
