Castro Dead? Maybe Not…

September 13th, 2007 by Kevin

A few weeks ago, I received a tip that one thousand INS agents had been deployed to the Miami area, and that another 500 were staged in Cincinnati, waiting to be deployed. When I inquired as to why, I was told that it was because Castro was dead. I was told he died around August 24th, but that the Cuban government was covering it up and that the US government wasn\’t advertising it because they feared the resulting celebratory riot/refugee flood that it would bring. Hence the INS agent deployment.

It sounded….well, a little too good to be true. So I withheld the information, but did put up a very vague plea for confirming statements several days later. A few people responded, and while one confirmed the INS agents movements, others expressed ignorance.

Well, it appears my instincts were probably correct. And I\’m happy to know I\’m not the only one that heard the tales. As it turns out, yes there were rumors amongst the US government types of Castro\’s death, but that it turned out to be a false alarm.

More the shame really.
