The MN GOP would do well to listen to this piece of advice from the wise Lady Logician…

MEMO TO SENATOR COLEMAN AND THE MNGOP!!!!! The people of Minnesota want a reason to vote FOR YOU, not a scare tactic to get us to vote against your opponent! The sooner you figure that out, the better off things will be for you amongst the base and with the moderate voters in this state. You need to figure this out sooner rather than later or you will be another casualty of the disenfranchised voters!

Presumably there has got to be something you\’ve done at some point that I\’m going to look favorably upon. Right?? RIGHT??? You remembered why people like me voted for you right??

Ok then….so here\’s what you do when you want donations. Call people up, and say \”HEH!!! GIMME!!!\” more or less. If they don\’t say \”OK!! Here\’s $100\”, then you have to sell it. Now normally this is where you recite the BS the Lady Logician mentions above. Bad….not good. Stop it.

Instead, try something like \”Well I appreciate that your money is valuable to you, but this last time around [insert politician\'s name] helped save you some tax dollars by doing ____________________. And he\’s stood up for your values by promoting ________________________. And he\’s looking forward to tackling _______________________. So he could really use your support, so that he can continue doing your work in Washington DC/St. Paul/City Hall/etc. \”

See what I did there?? I gave the person a reason to support you, not just hate your opponent. Which if they are a conservative, chances are they already hate your opponent, so your tact accomplishes nothing.
