It\’s Back! Amnesty II Has Begun

June 13th, 2007 by Kevin

Well it looks like President Bush\’s arm-twisting might have breathed life into this unholy creation he\’s calling comprehensive immigration reform, which is the same thing as \”Sell the entire country to Mexico for $5000 because I need a legacy for my memoirs!!\” Act.

As I indicated earlier, from my telecon with Seneator Coleman, many Senators indicated that the public just doesn\’t trust them on enforcement.  Possibilities included just passing an enforcement bill to restore public trust.  Nice start, in fact Senator DeMint and eight other Republican Senators (although no Coleman) sent a letter to President Bush asking him to enforce current laws (i.e. do his damn job!) and then explained why we don\’t need more laws since all these \”enforcement\” provisions are already law.  Even Chambliss and Isakson got into the act and sent a letter asking Bush to send an emergency supplemental spending bill to fund enforcement measures in the bill although that ignores the fact that we don\’t need this bill to do that!

It appears as if the horsetrading has already begun.  As Senators are trying to come up with a list of 20 (!!!!) amendments that are must-haves as far as being put up for a vote.  In return, Senators have to promise to vote for cloture.  So basically they are telling Senators, if you vote for cloture, we\’ll bring your amendment to the floor to be voted down.  Wow what a deal!!  How can anyone fall for this horseshit??  Oh yeah….it\’s Congress.

Word is there is already a 4.4 BILLION dollar amendment to fully fund all the enforcement provisions in this amnesty bill.  Their belief is that this will convince people that they really mean it this time.

Here is why they are still full of shit:

1) Remember those 700-800 miles of fence that got passed into law last year??? It was at least partially funded.  Know how much has been built?? Two measly miles.

Just because something gets funded, doesn\’t mean it gets done.  This is the government after all, they are experts at spending your money and getting nothing for it.

2)  Illegals still get amnesty BEFORE the enforcement provisions kick in.  Probationary Z Visas basically give them permanent legal status for all of creation and that happens the moment the bill is passed.

3) This bill is full of so many damn loopholes for all we know they\’ll shift the funds to some other pet project and the money will never get spent on what it was intended.

4) Since when did we start putting a price tag on things like the United States of American, or principles, or integrity.  I don\’t think you could buy Rhode Island for 4.4 billion, much less the whole country.

Start calling Coleman\’s office (202-224-5641).  He\’s under the very delusional impression that this bill is okay with a few tweaks.  Let him know he\’s wrong.  And let him know that you don\’t want him working with President Bush on this issue, since Bush wants amnesty and you want enforcement only.

The one thing that just jumped out at me during Coleman’s telecon was his statement that we ought to “look into fake SS numbers” (I paraphrase.) AFAIK, there are already 3 MILLION fake SS numbers KNOWN to the SSA, but they cannot (or will not) give that information to the ICE people. Heck of a good start, don’t you think? We know where these folks are, and who is employing them. Pick ‘em up!
