Welcome To The US, Here Are Your Five Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Cards…Now Go Pass Go

March 25th, 2007 by Kevin

If ever you find yourself actually believing that the federal government is even remotely serious about enforcing our immigration laws, you only need to remember this report coming out of Texas.   Basically it takes six arrests of illegal immigrants before federal prosecutors will act.

Needless to say, even the most dedicated local law enforcement official would get pretty frustrated.  Here’s a problem that is happening right before their eyes and they are handcuffed by federal authorities who refuse to enforce federal law.  That frustration I can personally testify to.

I have several friends who have gone into law enforcement from Arizona to Washington DC.  I’ve asked them about their run-ins with illegals and what they do about it.  Almost universally disgust has been the response.  Basically, they don’t even bother checking anymore unless they have a whole truckload (dozen or more) of them.  Because the feds will just shrug it off and not bother to even show up to pick them up.  So why go through the time, paperwork and effort when even the people that are paid to care don’t care?

So next time they try to fool the public with a grandstanding raid on a plant, just remember that raid wouldn’t have been necessary, had they done something the first time they arrested the illegals they just rounded up.

Mild Mannered Smartass By Day, Hatemonger By Night

March 25th, 2007 by Kevin

Turns out I’m a hatemonger….or so I’ve been accused of being. I won’t add any links both because I don’t want to give my accusers the satisfaction of the traffic and to protect the innocent that alerted me to the accusations.

As many of you know, I help run a little site that tracks the legislative actions of our State House Districts new Representative. While I do offer some snide commentary, each and every post is focused on simply pointing out votes she has cast, bills/amendments she has proposed, speeches she’s made, etc on the House floor. Cloak and dagger isn’t even necessary, as it’s entirely public record. Even the snide commentary is becoming less and less necessary, as many of her recent actions don’t require any sort of commentary. They are ridiculous on their face.

Yet some of our “friends” in the DFL have labeled a site, which catalogues her voting record, a “hate site”. To which I have to laugh. If a site that merely publishes her voting record is a hate site, then what does that say about her voting record? Perhaps Shelley Madore should instead explain why her voting record is so “hateful”?

Oh well, I have to laugh, as I take the accusations as a compliment more than anything. Obviously, we have stirred up a few feathers, and therefore accomplished at least part of what we set out to do. Being a thorn ain’t so bad….although I’m starting to think that the DFLs method of counterattack is just to tax everyone into oblivion.

Medical Advancement Brings Hope For The GOP

March 23rd, 2007 by Kevin

The first spinal transplant has taken place in China.  Results have been encouraging. I would encourage the RNC to begin a donor program in order to secure transplants for the entire Republican Party.

Unfortunately, medical science has not yet advanced far enough for the Democratic Party.  Granted we can perform heart transplants, but both brain and soul transplants are still decades away at least.

Romance 101 : Multiple Choice Final

March 23rd, 2007 by Kevin

Question 1 : You’re a 24-year old single man, you have a romantic interest in a 17-year old girl down the street. What do you do?

A) She’s not legal, forget it, find someone your age

B) Wait until she’s 18 before doing anything

C) Approach her about your interest…after having purchased a bullet proof vest in case her father objects.

D) Cut off her dogs head and anonymously leave it in a gift-wrapped box on her front door

Answer : If you answered D, chances are you’re the guy the St. Paul Police just arrested. Or at least one would like to believe there are not more people like this out there.

Even in murder cases, I’m not a supporter of the death penalty, but cases like this sure make me wish I believed otherwise.

Due to an update in the case, I’ll add an extra credit question

Question 2 : You’re a 24-year old man, your 17-year girlfriend has broken off the relationship a couple weeks ago. What do you do?

A) Forget it, she was only 17 anyway!

B) Forget it man, you’re too good for her. Plenty of fish in the sea and all that.

C) Feel sorry for yourself, and commit suicide

D) Try to win her back by cutting off her dogs head and anonymously leave it in a gift-wrapped box on her front door. Appear the hero by offering to buy her another one.

Answer : If you’re the guy that did D, the rest of the world would like to request that next time, you choose option C.

Personally I agree with the guys at Anti-Strib, even death would be too good for him.  I’m really struggling here not to suggest Mob justice.   And this is one of those cases were it’s very difficult for me to stand by my stance against the death penalty.  Besides, even if he got that, their methods would come far short of what he deserved.

Mr. Pot, Mr. Kettle, Please Meet Rep. Hoyer

March 22nd, 2007 by Kevin

The irony of being a Democrat. Back in 1994, when the Republicans had control of the House

In a July 8, 2004, news release, Hoyer railed against GOP leaders for extending a 15-minute vote to 38 minutes in order to defeat a spending amendment offered by former Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

“House Republican leaders proved once again today that they will stop at virtually nothing to win a vote, even if that means running roughshod over the most basic principles of democracy such as letting members vote their conscience and calling the vote after the allotted time has elapsed,” Hoyer said.

“They ought to be ashamed of themselves, but when it comes to holding votes open and twisting the arms of their own members they clearly have no shame,’’ he went on. “These back-alley tactics have no place in the greatest deliberative body in the world. They might be the lifeblood of the tin-horn dictator, but not a world leader. It’s an embarrassment.”

Now the Democrats have control of the House, and when their first close vote comes up, does Hoyer stick to the “basic principles of democracy”?? If you said yes, you are not only naïve, but also wrong.

When asked by a reporter if they would stick to the time limit, Hoyer “pointed out that many votes can run a few minutes longer for various reasons“. The only time limit he would offer is less than 3 hours.

Can Hoyer now be considered a “tin-horn dictator“? Is Hoyer using “back-alley tactics“? Does Hoyer have any shame? Is he worried about running “roughshod over the most basic principles of democracy“???

Don’t bother asking him. His answer will change depending on the political situation.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform AKA Amnesty To Be Offered Today

March 21st, 2007 by Kevin

Today Congressmen Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) will be introducing their own Comprehensive Immigration Plan. From the sounds of it they realized that the Senate Bill was having issues and therefore decided to propose their own. But don’t be fooled, they’ve both been in negotiations with John “I swear I’m actually a Republican” McCain and Ted “I’m driving, just three more rounds bartender” Kennedy. So this will be very similiar to their bill.

Now as of my writing of this, the text has not been released for the bill, but from what Flake and Gutierrez have been telling reporters, we can glean some central points from the bill and it’s not good. Here are just a few.

  • Anyone that can offer even the tiniest shred of evidence that they’ve been here since June 1st, 2006, gets amnesty and an automatic path to citizenship.
    • These aliens would have to pay $2000 and at least some of the taxes they never did previously. Heh, how do I get this deal?!? I’m a US citizen and I had to pay ALL of mine!!
    • They have to pass a criminal background check….you know to further overburden that system.
    • Plus they have to learn some English. Presumably, just enough to say “Where is my polling place?? This guy says I have to vote for the Democrats or the evil Republican will send me home.”
    • The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is already overloaded, will grant them temporary visa and work permits, on which they’ll stay for six years.
    • After six years, they get a Green Card if they’ve learned basic English and traveled outside the US for any length of time. Although there are approximately googolplex of exceptions to this rule.
    • I probably don’t need to point out this is a perfect example for criminals and potential terrorists, to get official papers under a false name?
  • Oh and just in case you can’t get into that amnesty program, it allows for a couple others
    • AgJOBS, is for those who claim to have worked in agricultural jobs. If this sounds familiar it should be. The 1986 amnesty included a similiar provision, which resulted in massive fraud, plus allowed at least one terrorist attack. Mahmud Abouhalima, a leader of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, was legalized by this program. As a result he had the freedom to travel abroad, including several trips to Afghanistan, where he received terrorist training.
    • The DREAM Act, provides amnesty for anyone that has already stolen a taxpayer-funded high school diploma (or the equivalent).
  • And if you STILL don’t qualify for any of those, you’re not out of luck yet. There will also be a guest worker program allowing for approximately 400,000 “guest workers”. But really they are permanant residents as it doesn’t sound like there is a time limit. I dunno about you, but I don’t call someone who stays at my house forever a “guest”.
  • As a bone to people like me, the bill does say that employers eventually have to figure out if their workers are legal, and if they don’t they have to pay even bigger penalties. But as we’ve already seen these are rarely enforced and all it takes is a call to your Congressman to get the penalties lifted.
  • There is also something about a North American Security Perimeter. Details are really really fuzzy, but from what I can gather, basically Mexico is responsible for the security of our southern border against any threat. These sounds too completely ridiculous to be true….at the same time, I’ve seen worse come out of Congress. But seriously, this alone would be reason to oppose this bill if it’s true. Now we’d be officially outsourcing our national defense.

So that’s what’s coming down the pipeline sewerline today.

If you like what you see, do nothing.  If you do nothing, expect to get shat upon.  Otherwise call your Representative.  We know they aren’t the most reliable people in the world, so sometimes you have to remind that they their job exists because of people like you.

So I hear you want to immediately cease all carbon emissions in the United States.  Since it’s your bright idea, you go first.  We’ll be right behind you.

SD37 Convention Roundup

March 21st, 2007 by Kevin

Tonite was our SD37 GOP convention and I was there pretty late, so I’ll probably make this a little short tonite.

First of all, you’re reading the rantings of the new Senate District 37 GOP Secretary. It’s a position I’m looking forward to, with the direction I want to take the SD37 GOP website, I think the two will overlap anyway. As it is now the SD37 GOP website is a temporary placeholder at best. Really I want to take it further, and have it play a more organizational role. I’ve been rather impressed with the direction SD45 has taken in that regard.

Overall, a rather successful convention. In the past few months we’ve discussed alot of big reforms for our Senate District to expand it’s role and hopefully make it more effective. These plans seemed to be well received. When we later broke up into small groups for discussion of various issues, I got the impression from people in each of the groups that minds seemed to be aligned towards a common goal.

This is greatly encouraging, as it’s much better to move forward as a group rather than a bunch of individuals. And since I’ve always worried that the two biggest hurdles to our plans were people and money, I’m rather optimistic at least on the former. Hopefully some of the enthusiasm will translate into volunteering towards our cause. Even on the money hurdle there is reason to hopeful, as discussions on that were especially productive.

We also discussed the activities to retake the 37A seat from Shelley Madore, which amongst other things included the Shelley Madore Watch site. Which I’ve been informed has officially been labeled a “hate site” now by the local DFLers. I find this amusing because all I do is publish how she votes. If that site is truly a hate site, then it’s content is hateful. So I would suggest they might want to talk to Shelley about why her voting record is so hateful towards taxpayers and families.

And since this website was also mentioned during the convention, and several individuals specifically asked for the address I’m guessing some will stop by. So if you’re one of them welcome. Let me save you the time and let you know what you’ll find here. If you had to stick me with a label, then “South Park Republican” is a good label for me. I have a low tolerance for bullshit and absolutely no qualms in about criticizing our own candidates when they deserve it. But you’re more than welcome to stop by and read the insane ravings I put up on a regular basis.

Now let’s start the march towards 2008. Lots to do, and very little time to do it.

This Is The Song That Never Ends, It Goes On And On My Friend, …….

March 21st, 2007 by Kevin

I was very enthusiastically asked by one of my friends and readers, CC, why I haven’t commented on this whole Bush fired some lawyers blah blah blah blah situation.  Well mostly because I’ve been busy lately.  60+ hour workweeks don’t allow much free time and it’s an issue I’m not overly informed on.  And I haven’t made a serious attempt to do so because….well it’s freaking stupid.  But since it refuses to die I’ll take a shot at it.

It’s all about Karl Rove.  Look nothing that happened here was illegal.  Nothing was unethical.  Nothing was even remotely unusual, as they are his employees and serve at his pleasure.  And presidents have hired and fired them by the dozens for years.  But it basically all comes down to this…..Karl Rove.

Democrats are still pissed off they were denied their trophy.  They were absolutely positive they were going to get Roves head on a platter with the previous non-issue, otherwise known as the Plame incident.  But that turned into a big goose egg and they best they got was a few trumped up charges on an aide, which even the jury thinks is BS.

Damn it they wanted their trophy and they’ll get it whether they have to make shit up or not.  After all they have to satisfy the liberally loony savages that make up the netroots crowd.  So here is the latest manufactured scandal they are going to milk for as long as the media has air time.  Which will be until either they get a conviction on something, or Britney Spears changes her hairdo or something.

That’s all this whole “scandal” is….it’s Plan B.  Plan C is probably something like Bush uses A1 steak sauce instead of the historically accepted Heinz 57, or something equally important.   You don’t even want to fathom Plan D.

So not only is the situation stupid, but still presents an opportunity for Bush to demonstrate his recent political ineptitude by screwing it up.  If he relents to Democrats, he only encourages them.  They bullied him once, it’ll work again….steak sauce be damned.  Plus in this world of 10 second sound bites, it leaves an impression that Bush actually did something wrong.  Plus well, say he dumps Gonzalez or something, do we really want to go through another Harriet Miers confirmation??  Ugh, I just threw up a little in my mouth.  My advice, tell the Democrats to get bent and leave it at that.

There I just gave the issue 20 times more space than it’s worth.  Thanks a freaking lot CC, I hold you solely responsible for this post.

Spring Cleaning

March 19th, 2007 by Kevin

With several days of warm (read: above freezing) temperatures, comes that horrid smell immediately recognizable to all dog owners. It’s the smell of all that dog poo you didn’t clean up all winter long thawing out. So since I was trying to avoid going into work on a weekend, I felt this weekend was a good time to take care of that.

Spent a good few hours cleaning up dog poo (all 8 gallons of it), misc debris and such from my yard. Turned out pretty well, and now I can safely traverse my lawn without looking underfoot.

Looked so good, I took a picture of it. ….so, looks pretty good huh? Not a single land mine in sight.

No dog poo!

Now my lawn ornaments stand out a little more. Some might be content with a simple garden gnome. Not me…I needed something with more “oomph”.

It just occurred to me I should have loaded my lawn ornaments with dog poo. With election season just around the corner, I’ll need the appropriate ammo in order to offer my rebuttal to the inevitable DFL doorknockers.
