EckerNet Upgrade

Ok first of all, you might have noticed things look a little different around here. I redesigned the site both out of preference and necessity.
First of all, let\’s get the housekeeping out of the way. I was forced to move EckerNet to a new server a little earlier than I liked. The new site should be functional…at least to you, if something isn\’t please let me know via email or the comments area. All content should be transported over, there are a few minor things I still need to add but that\’s either minor or you aren\’t likely to notice.
Secondly, yeah, this move was definitely necessary. My old host had started making it a habit of refusing to deal with questions/complaints and I was getting slightly annoyed at not having emails answered by someone I am paying to provide me a service. The real kicker came when their email server started acting up and not delivering all emails for my domain. Now for me, that\’s just really annoying. However, for my little sister Kiwi, who is in the middle of planning her upcoming wedding, well, that\’s not good at all. So when the chance came to switch hosts for a very attractive price….well, there was not question. So here we are.
Now I\’ll be making more changes so you might (or might not) notice lots of little things changing. If you like what you see, let me know. If you don\’t like what you see, let me know. If you see something not working, let me know. If you don\’t want to let me know, let me know. You get the idea.

Looking good… damn i’m looking good… we’ll have to get you some more title pics though… while the three are nice, 10 would be great…

Yeah, I figured three were good to start with. But if you have pics or suggestions, I’m more than open to ideas

Man, it looks really nice. Very clean and sharp.

Too Clean. Too sharp.
It’s a little too nice, your original design had the retro campy-ness of some of my favoite geo-cities pages of the mid-1990s. The ones done by people who actually knew what they were doing. But yours was better. Really.
One question, I was thinking of switching to a 3 column template and I noticed you abandoned it. Should I not try out the 3 column for technical or aesthetic reasons?

Thanks…I think.
Yeah, I was originally on two column, switched to three when I didn’t have room for everything I wanted. But I always felt it wasted a lot of space. Ideally you don’t want to make your visitors scroll too much.
So it’s a preference thing. I guess I didn’t like it but stuck with it because under that design it was the best option.
Here, I moved things around and got a better overall layout and no longer needed the third column. Although on the downside I’m peaked at what additional content/links/images/etc I can put on my page and expect people to actually see it without scrolling.

The new site looks good, but a little scary. According to the picture I saw at the top of the page, it appears that prairie dogs (maybe it was a chipmunk) are now armed with rifles and scopes.

I think NW just called you and or cc a chipmunk… i’m not sure which…
