2006 : The Year In Review

December 30th, 2006 by Kevin

At the beginning of this year I made some predictions for the year 2006, now that the year is out, let’s see how I did.

Judge Alito will be confirmed after claims that the sky is falling by Democrats everywhere. The sky will not fall.

Damn I’m good.

Renewed claims of the sky is falling will be taken up again the next time Bush promotes absolutely anything. Once again, the sky will not fall. This trend will not end.

Unfortunately that trend lasted ALL FUCKING YEAR…thank goodness it’s a new year…will the trend end?? You’ll have to wait for my 2007 predictions.

Saddam Hussein will be convicted of the terribly obvious and be put to death. Liberals everywhere will mourn at the loss of their favorite victim of the Bush administration.

Yeah, he’s dead. Finally. As I write this we’re still waiting on video and still photos but word is that he’s already room temp.

Iran will announce their first nuclear test about 20 minutes before Israel conducts a public demonstration of their state-of-the-art air force.

Well since Israel hasn’t conducted a public demonstration of their state-of-the-art air force, I’m technically right yeah?? LOL, ok I’ll take half credit then.

After the 2006 elections, the Democratic Party will release a statement claiming that every race in which a Democrat lost was plagued with massive voting fraud. And in cases where there is actual evidence of voter fraud, yet the Democrat won, they’ll claim it’s just partisan ranting.

Well you’ll notice that in the early hours of the 2006 elections there was alot of complaining about “voting irregularities” and hacked voting machines and such. As soon as it became apparent that things were falling towards the Democrats, it stopped. I think that’s a pretty solid gold star for me.

After virtually every instance of especially bad weather, liberal moonbat pundits will assume an “I told you so” aura as they decry “scientifically proven” global warming and how it’s all Bush’s fault.

Well before the hurricane season started we started getting this so I’d like to take credit. However, I got something even better than being right. Not a single hurricane hit us this year, proving that Al Gore and his cronies are full of shit. Heh, my “proof” is just as scientifically valid as any crap they try to pull out their ass.

Microsoft products will continue to suck.

Oh god yes….

Nick Coleman of the Red Star will write at least one coherent column that represents intelligence and a firm grip on reality….maybe.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting this one to actually come true….but well, it did

The French riots, having been reduced to “normal” levels of rioting, will once again intensify as French citizens collectively realize that they are….well, French.

LOL, sadely enough, this one kinda came true. Rioting is back to a “normal” level. And tensions are increasing amongst disillusioned Muslims that haven’t integrated into French society, but can you really blame them??? Would you?

Bin Laden will still not be found and will slip further into irrelevance. Democrats will skillfully declare it as a failure of the Bush administration will simultaneously doing everything the can to hinder the War on Terror.

Bingo. We’re continuously told how Iraq isn’t about Bin Laden and blah blah blah blah blah. In reality I stopped listening to their BS.

Air America will continue it’s dismal ratings even without stealing money from poor children. Their hosts will continue to declare they have better ratings than all the major networks combined.

LOL, even better, Air America has such dismal ratings they are going out of business.

Google will finally make something causing people everywhere not to say “Oh my God, that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!!!”. At the moment the score is about Infinity-1 to 0. Seriously…they’re about due for a flop.

I think google.ca (Chinese government run censorship of the internet) counts as a flop.

The Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and Scuttlebutt will all make their presence known, and at a joint press conference will plead, “Seriously, stop the non-stop coverage of Britney Spears. She’s not worth it.”

I wish they had….I really wish they had.

Sisyphus will increase his Halliburton stock portfolio proving he’s just a Karl Rove lackey.

Actually I was wrong here, Sisyphus instead used a portion of his vast blood-for-money fortune in a unsuccessful attempt to rig the 2006 elections by preventing every minority in the country from voting.

Spending will continue to increase as Republicans thumb their nose at conservatives. A failed token effort will be made right before the 2006 elections.

Bingo. Which is a huge reason for the outcome of the 2006 elections.

My parents will finally get broadband internet, which will remove the culture shock I experience when visiting.

Well they didn’t, but they are talking about it and asking my advice on how to hook it up. So I would say I might have just been a few months premature on this one.

Katie Holmes will give birth to what for the last time can be referred to as a “normal” baby. It begins it’s doomed existance.

Yep, that about sums it up.

The big hole at Ground Zero will continue to be a big hole as beaucracy trumps productivity.

Well technically they’ve just recently broken ground on building the tower on that site, but yeah, basically it’s still just a big hole in the ground. The fact that the Pentagon was rebuilt by 1 am on September 12th, 2001, is just further evidence that the only part of the government that functions is the Defense Department.

The New York Times will again endanger national security by releasing sensitive information regarding the War on Terror. They will again get away with it.

On a monthly basis pretty much. I’ve lost count at this point. Hell I can’t even remember what the last leak was, as it’s just melded together in one vast big noise. How conspiracy theorists get off thinking the government can keep ANYTHING a secret is beyond me.

Howard Dean gets on another frenzied spittle inducing rant proclaiming the absolutely absurd, and completely offensive to reality based people. Democrats everywhere will refuse to condemn his statement as they laugh in a “That’s Our Dean” kind of way.

Well, I’m sure Dean probably did, but he’s been overshadowed by Kerry on that count.

The real estate “bubble” continues not to burst….again.

Yup

Cindy Sheehan attempts to make a comeback. Relevance glances at her, shrugs and wonders off in search of something important.

I think it’s official, her 15 minutes are finally over.

Bush will continue not to take illegal immigration seriously. It will become a major campaign issue in southern border states.

I’m a bit biased on this but yeah. Bush continues to lay a complete clusterfuck every time he attempts to pretend to care about this issue.

While pheasant hunting, my dog will prove she’s not a lesbian and flush her first rooster.

I’m proud to say yes. Even better I got to watch it all happen.

The United Nations continues to do nothing but serve as a soapbox for tyrants to criticize the United States.

Did it ever really serve any other purpose?

Troop levels in Iraq are dramatically scaled down. Democrats will proclaim victory….and credit. Soldiers will look on in stunned silence.

Well…they are down. I don’t think it qualifies as dramatically, but it’s down. And the Democrats just want to pull out entirely.

The Fraters will win another trivia contest at Keegans.

Well the Fraters haven’t been there in 2006 so I guess I’ll have to count this one as wrong. Actually I don’t think a single member of the Northern Alliance has been at Keegans this year.

There will be another Supreme Court vacancy. Democrats will proclaim Bush as a “divider” if he nominates a replacement to the right of Jimmy Carter.

Not yet, but we’ve been assured it’s coming in the next year. I think this is probably a solid prediction for next year.

The MAWB Squad will try to bring me back under control. Learned Foot will defeat their attempts.

I did receive a bribe from Cathy but I was not brought under control. I think Learned Foot’s constant discussion of boobies has discouraged any further attempts.

Zarqawi will be captured or killed. Democrats will decry the “aggressive tactics” of the US military.

Zarqawi obtained room temperature status in the summer of ‘06. And yeah, we were lectured about how we should have captured him and how we shouldn’t have killed him in such a violent manner. F that!

The anniversary of “Tookie’s” execution will pass without notice.

Tookie who??

So….basically what this all comes down to is I’m pretty impressive at making predictions. I will hereby accept all manner of compliments, adoration, proposals and general ego-stroking.

When Hypocrisy Isn’t Enough, Eliminate Your Competition

December 29th, 2006 by Kevin

It always amuses me when the left shows their true colors. When one let’s their tongue slip and you get a glimpse at what really goes on in that mind of theirs. It’s amusing, scary and amazing all at once.

For example, it’s amazing that a bullhorn (Ted Rall) of the party (Democrats) that constantly decries “crushing of dissent” and unfair elections, might propose that their opponent be banned from the political process. It’s scary that they could even contemplate the idea. And it’s amusing that they don’t choke on their own hypocrisy.

Of course, if you look at the rationale for such a move, it’s not hard to realize why they think it would be a smart move. Frankly, they’re farking nuts.

Republicans have attempted to destroy our constitution by tearing down the wall between church and state. They have attempted to subvert our constitution to create a theocracy. The GOP itself is guilty of treason.

Ok here is your homework assignment, find me the exact passage of the Constitution (that’s a capital C by the way!) that uses the phrase “seperation of church and state”, or even “church and state”.

Republicans nominated a man unfit for the presidency, a man who lacks the intellectual curiosity, the disposition, and the decency to be president of the United States. They knew he was incompetent when they nominated him. They put the quest for power above the good of the nation. They have committed treason. The GOP should cease to exist as a political party.

According to Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, the qualifications for the Presidency are that they must be a natural born citizen, at least 35 years of age and lived in the United States for fourteen years. Now what part makes President Bush unfit for the presidency?? And if what you say is true and that having President Bush as President is akin to treason I would have to point out that the American public would have to be considered complicit to such a crime since they voted him in twice.

Republicans have destroyed our environment. During the 1990s, a critical time during which we could have begun reversing global climate change, they funded corporate pseudo scientists to befuddle the public and browbeat the media into believing, against all reason and common sense, that humans are not responsible for the rapid global climate change we are experiencing. They have put not just our country but the world at risk. The GOP should cease to exist.

LOL, wow….and who was president for most of the 90s???

Republicans have been attempting to destroy our public education system for the past 30 years. In doing so, they have attacked the very foundation of our democratic society: An educated populace capable of analytical thought. The GOP deserves to be abolished from American politics forever for this crime.

Ok…..and the federal government is responsible for your school’s cirriculum how?? The quality of your schools teachers are the fault of the federal government how??? And since teachers are overwhelmingly Democrats, their performance is the fault of Republicans how???

Republicans have destroyed American foreign policy, destroyed our global credibility, played upon fears to justify a senseless war, and ultimately served as a recruiting tool for terrorists. No political party should be allowed to survive after such a blunder.

Ah, see that is where you went wrong. We have a foreign policy which doesn’t include rolling over to terrorism. As far as global credibility, we’re trying to rebuild it. You see, ever since Vietnam, every time the US has committed itself to something, it ran and hide every time it’s nose got bloodied. Pulling out of Iraq would only serve to reinforce that image. And it’s a dangerous image to have.

And finally Republicans have turned Americans against Americans, families against families, gays against straights, religious against nonreligious. They have preyed on our bigotry. They have appealed to the basest instincts of human nature: To hate what one does not understand.

Claims of bigotry??? This coming from the person that wants their opponent banned? And never have Republicans preached hatred of anything. Just because we don’t want a gay lifestyle forced upon others doesn’t mean we hate gays. Just because we’re understandably afraid of people that want to kill us, doesn’t mean we hate Muslims. Perhaps the problem is the fact that you and you alone don’t understand these causes.

For all these crimes and more, against our nation, against the world, against the constitution, against individuals, no one should ever vote Republican again.

Says you. I thought we wrote the Constitution (remember that big C again?) because we don’t want another king?

Saddam Hussein To Hang Before 2007

December 28th, 2006 by Kevin

Via MSNBC

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for his role in 148 killings in 1982, will have his sentence carried out by Sunday, NBC News reported Thursday. According to a U.S. military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, Saddam will be hanged before the start of the Eid religious holiday, which begins at sundown Saturday.

It would seem to make sense, if the legal options are exhausted, why prolong the inevitable?  Just gives insurgents more time to use this as a propaganda tool.  Plus hopefully it will happen before his supporters have time to organize some sort of retaliatory attack.  Now if they can only figure out which of the hundreds of Iraqis that have volunteered to be the hangman gets the job.
Normally I’m not a huge fan of the death penalty, but I’ve never shed a tear when a criminal was put to death either.  In this case, I might even have a drink in celebration.

NYT : Instead Of The News, We Give You Our Opinion On Why Your Opinion Doesn’t Matter

December 28th, 2006 by Kevin

I suppose it would really be too much to ask the New York Times to report the news rather than give us an incredibly slanted editorial filled with out-of-context figures and outright lies? I know, I shouldn’t have expected anything different but dammit, how stupid do they think their readers are??

Ok, nevermind, bad question.

But seriously, look at this pile-o-crap article on the latest attempt at passing an amnesty bill for illegal alien criminals immigrants…

House Republicans blocked consideration of the bill that passed the Senate this year, saying it amounted to an amnesty for lawbreakers and voicing confidence that a tough stance would touch off a groundswell of support in the Congressional elections. The strategy largely failed.

Wrong, it did not fail. In the last election 11.5% of Republicans seats in Congress were lost. But only 6.7% of Tancredo’s Immigration Reform Caucus (a group of immigration hardliners) lost their seats. Does that sound like being tough on immigration was a liability?? Moreover, if you look at the numbers at NumbersUSA (one of my favorite sources) you’ll find that overwhelmingly, being soft on immigration was a liability rather than a bonus. Anyone trying to repeat this repeatedly disproved myth is just trying to twist a groundswell against the GOP in their favor.

Hispanic voters, a swing constituency that Republicans covet, abandoned the party in large numbers.

Not only wrong, but so wrong as it has to be an intentional lie on their part. After all, their OWN NUMBERS prove this wrong. Hispanics have always mostly voted for the Democrats. Republicans have never “coveted” them. Sure we’ve tried to gain ground amongst them, but the same could be said for Blacks, Asians, Jews, Catholics, Soccer Moms, etc. Now this myth that Hispanics abandoned the GOP in large numbers is taking some facts out of context. Sure, it is true that there was a 14% swing in Hispanics votes from the last election…but let’s put that into historical context. Let’s see what percentage of Hispanics voted for Republicans in the last few elections.

1982 - 25%
1984 - 31%
1986 - 25%
1988 - 24%
1990 - 28%
1992 - 28%
1994 - 39%
1996 - 27%
1998 - 37%
2000 - 35%
2002 - 38%
2004 - 44%
2006 - 30%

Yeah, sounds like they are a real dependable demographic. That 44% last election was a fluke in the numbers. A statistical anomaly and pretending it’s some mass exodus from the GOP is just plain twisting the truth.

Several Republican hardliners, including Representatives John Hostettler of Indiana and J. D. Hayworth of Arizona, lost their seats.

Yet more taking things out of context…I believe I’ve already covered this falsity. I’m not doing it again.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has repeatedly raised doubts about the effectiveness of border fencing in remote desert areas. Mr. Bush signed the fence bill this year, but Congress did not appropriate enough money for it. Officials say they would also prefer a less burdensome process than the original Senate bill outlined.

That’s because Chertoff is a spineless weasel and has never actually done his job tried securing the homeland, much less putting up a fence. It’s funny that he thinks a fence wouldn’t work, when it’s worked just find for the Israeli’s under much harsher conditions.

But Mr. Flake described himself as optimistic, saying the elections had disabused many Republicans of the notion that opposing legalization and guest worker plans would win widespread support.

Show me one public opinion poll that indicates anything but widespread opposition to a guest worker program.

I’ll refrain from commenting on the bill in consideration at this point. Right now there is just too much up on the air to make a reasonable assessment of what we’re looking at. As evidence of that, I present the above reviewed POS that the New York Times floated. However, despite losses for the GOP I’m still confident of our chances. Many of the Democrats that won campaigned against illegal immigration and they are going to be looking to last part their first term. Also many of the Republicans that were squishes on immigration lost in the last election. And the chief RINO heading up this charge is none other that John “I’m Republicans when it’s popular” McCain…who apparently is still suffering the delusion that he has a chance as the Presidency. So he’s gonna have to ease up on his crusade to let the entire population of Mexico become American citizens. And really time is on our side. The 2008 elections are just around the corner. The longer a bill gets put off the better chance that it’s never gonna happen. No candidate on either side of the aisle will want to get stuck with the amnesty label.

Which is rather sad because it means we’ll be stuck with this broken system we have now.

Saddam To Hang, Funeral Cancelled Due To Lack Of Interest

December 27th, 2006 by Kevin

An Iraqi Appeals Court has upheld Saddam Hussein’s death sentence for generally being an all-around Class-A prick. The sentences of his assistant assholes has also been upheld except for former VP Taha Yassin Ramadan, whose life sentence was returned for being “too lenient”. Sentence to be carried out within 30 days of being ratified by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, although the court has promised to carry out the sentence even if it’s not ratified. How exactly that is legal isn’t clear to me, but I’m not even an expert in the American justice system, much less the Iraqi one.

So it sounds like Saddam’s New Years Resolution may be to shed enough pounds to fit into a size nine noose rather than the rather embarrassing size eleven.

The death penalty for Saddam, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Former President Gerald Ford Dead

December 27th, 2006 by Kevin

Former President Gerald Ford has died at the age of 93. Cause and location of death was not released.

I personally will remember him best for the following quote

“A government big enough to give us everything we want is a government big enough to take from us everything we have.”

A fitting reminder for us as a Democratic Congress takes over promising the moon to anyone and everyone.

Americans WILL Do Jobs Americans Won’t Do

December 21st, 2006 by Kevin

First we had the politically-timed raids on the Swift plants, and then shortly after we had the Bush administration decided to further reduce their already pitiful enforcement of our immigration laws. It has really become almost comical how predictable this administration is on the immigration issue. And issue they are intent on ignoring what they can, and whitewashing what they can’t.

It is nice to appreciate the irony when one Bush political play destroys another Bush political play. You all remember the now infamous statement, that immigrants are just “doing jobs Americans won’t do”. Oh really George?

They why is it that in the wake of the Swift raids, that rounded up thousands of illegal immigrants, we now have LEGAL applicants lining up to take the jobs vacated by illegals?? Not only lining up, but in lines out the door. I thought Americans won’t do those jobs??? I thought we needed amnestied illegal workers for that??

Why exactly do we NEED more foreign workers?? Clearly there are Americans right here willing to do those jobs already. Why do we need to import workers….not only import workers but import the poverty, crime, illiteracy and misplaced loyalties that come with them???

Face it President Bush, you’re wrong on this issue. Reality has proven that time and time again. The numbers don’t lie and the voters aren’t changing their minds. It’s time to actually do your job, enforce our laws and accept the reality that America doesn’t need others to do our work for us. We’re quite happy doing it ourselves.
