EckerNet : Back Online!!

Well it looks like I’ve gotten EckerNet back up and running. Still missing about 2 months worth of archives, but I think I’ll be able to get that restored this weekend.
Basically what happened is a bunch of capacitors on the RAID blew damaging the hard drive and taking the RAID with it. Somehow it also took out primary backup. So the only thing left was a backup from back in August. Fortuanately, I had a backup from Mid-November laying around. And when I tried to restore that I learned that my Moveable Type apparently had a falling out with the mySQL database, because they weren’t talking.
Well deleted the damn thing and started over. Now it talks. Yeah!!
Still missing quite a few entries from my archives. Apparently the harddrive on which EckerNet used to exist is on it’s way to the fourth data recovery firm, since the previous three pronounced the drive dead on arrival.
Many thanks are due to Martin Andrade who selflessly began crawling through the internet searching for caches of my website in order to rebuild my archives. He had a fairly complete collection, almost before I was even aware of the problem. Many props and many thanks. EckerNet owes you a debt of gratitude. And per EckerNet policy, we repay all debts in beer.
And thanks to the following bloggers
Martin Andrade
Uncle Ben
The NightWriter
Triple_AAndy Aplisomethingorother
Harvey
who continuously hounded me and reminded me that as a blogless civilian I was completely worthless. Now that I have a blog again, I resume my “partially worthless” status.
Hopefully this is the end of my server problems. And on that note, anyone know of a really good automated backup tool for Moveable Type???
